    1. A young Ben is being trained by Luke
    2. In that period, Luke falls in love with someone
    3. This woman gets pregnant and leaves Luke (for some undisclosed reason)
    4. Rey is born somewhere without Luke ever knowing he has a daughter
    5. A teenager Ben meets Snoke and is seduced by the Dark Side
    6. Snoke somehow learns about Luke's lost daughter
    7. Snoke tells Ben that he has to find and kill this girl in order to be a Knight of Ren
    8. Ben finds Rey but can't kill her
    9. Instead, Ben leaves her in Jakku
    10. Ben tells Snoke that the girl's dead
    11. Ben becomes Kylo Ren and confronts Luke
    12. Luke vanishes

Missing link: What's the role of Lor San Tekka here? Maybe he's Luke's brother-in-law?

I like it a lot, and very much believe this theory, though I'd thought she was presumed dead as opposed to Luke never knowing her. It works either way. I'm convinced that Kylo is the one who left her on Jakku (and either he wiped her mind or trauma did it). His reaction to hearing about the "girl" immediately made me think that.

Lor appears to be a fan of the Jedi and a believer in the Force. I'm not sure that he's connected beyond that. I figure that he knows the Skywalker/Solo family through his support of the Jedi.

In the novelisation of the movie, it is said that Lor San Tekka is a follower of the Church of the Force.

I'm not comfortable with the idea of memory loss being used as a plot device. It may sound forced to most people. That's why I think it would work better (in terms of storytelling) if neither Luke or Rey knew about how they're related. That information should come from a third person, like Snoke or Kylo Ren.

It's occurred to me that Force suppressed memories could be a possibility with regards to Rey but I agree, I don't like it. It feels too much like a violation.

We got the age of Kylo Ren now, Pablo Hidalgo says Kylo Ren is around 29-30 years old, which lines up with him being conceived almost exactly at the Battle of Endor. damn Leia and Han got serious real quick.

I guess that fits the timeline... he'd be around 16 years old when Rey was left in Jakku. Old enough to cause trouble with the help of the other six Knights of Ren.

With respect to the JJ interview linked in the recent news story:
    http://www.ew.com/article/2015/12/2...-question-about-r2-d2-star-wars-force-awakens

Would be interesting to know whether this is the editor overinterpreting something or direct/paraphrased quote from JJ. 38 years after ANH would put TFA some 33-34 after ROTJ, not just 30. Which would have allowed BenKylo to have been 20+ during the Academy Massacre (though if he's intended to be 30, that won't work, just gives some leeway to the exact time of his conception).

Yeah, having a 20+ years old Ben during the massacre makes even more sense.

Imagine if that woman was Palpatine's descendant. Would explain Rey seemingly more powerful than Kylo. Skywalker and Palpatine blood.

Maybe Luke gave birth to Rey spontaneously through an immaculate conception through the Force, ala Annie ?! ;)
