When I watched the movie again today, I noticed that hardly anybody -except Finn- refers to Rey as Rey. When they speak about her, they tend to refer to her as the girl. Furthermore, the x-wing helmet that she briefly wears when she is sitting in front of her AT-AT home seems to say Raeh. I would not be surprised if Rey is not her real name.

I agree. I think that is the name she adopted. I don't think Unkar Plutt even knew her name when she was given to him. He says something like: "Come on, girl."

    Kenobi calls her Rey too.

How could Maz, Snoke or Kylo could call her Rey, they didn't met ...

The helmet was from Dosmit Raeh (Visual Dictionary):
"X-wing pilot helmet once belonging to Captain Dosmit Raeh of the Tierfon Yellow Aces"

For that fighter pilot doll, it says that:
"Rey crafted [an] Alliance pilot doll when she was 10 years old, from debris she found in the junkfields."

Rey is the only name she knows, but she could have given it to herself. The Before The Awakening novel says that she calls herself Rey.

True, Obi-Wan calls out to her in the vision and Kylo Ren, Snoke and Maz have not met her. Yet, Kylo Ren and Snoke do not attempt to find out her name. They already seem to know her. If I recall correctly, they seem to say 'the' girl rather than 'a' girl. I just found the constant use of 'the girl' remarkable and the fact that she has a helmet saying Raeh a little too coincidental. I need to watch the movie again. ;)

always suspected that rey, kylo and finn were NEVER their given names.. so far i'm 2 for 3 and i'm feeling very strongly that "rey" isn't rey at all. and on a sidenote, it's excellent marketing because everyone will want all the figures with different names.

I'm starting to wonder if Rey is in fact a Dameron.

Poe's parents aren't about anymore and maybe this relates to them leaving Rey on Jakku.

Rey is a great pilot, like Poe and had a rebel doll. I also think there was a reason we didn't see them meet in TFA - too much to show in one film?

Rey also refers to her 'family' - not just 'parents'.

Poes parents were both rebels and were close to Luke. Perhaps they were in on Lukes secret mission? Luke also gave them the force tree so maybe that advanced Rey's abilities = why she was so badass so quickly.

Looks like Leia also took to Poe, hence strong emotional connection to Rey.

I'm calling it, Rey is Poe's sister!

From which source did you get the information that Poe's parents are no longer alive? At the end of Shattered Empire Poe's parents retired from the Rebellion and started a new life on Yavin IV. I do not know what happened to them afterwards.

When Poe's parents were helping Leia and Han, Poe stayed with his grandparents. If Poe's parents are indeed dead, why could Rey not have stayed with the grandparents like Poe? Why did she have to be hidden on Jakku?
