    The novel writers definitely have access to the information, or at least are guided by LFL for the sake of the continuity and continuing storyline.

    RJ provided information about the political situation of the Republic around the time of Bloodline. It's not clear whether Claudia Gray was told anything about Snoke, Rey, or what Luke and Ben were up to.
