I'm not expecting Rey to be a Solo but a myriad of possible explanations exist (some weaker than others) for some counter arguments presented.
    Here's a few...
    Maybe she didn't suspect it.
Maybe she did and it wasn't presented on screen because it wasn't deemed suitable for the filmakers' particular story.
    Maybe he didn't suspect this.
Maybe be he did and was focused on getting her away from the action - for her safety and Resistance security culture.
In Universe: Maybe they didn't feel the need to go there every time they reminisce.
Maybe they did go there but, with entire lifetimes lived by characters and only limited moments shown, that moment wasn't presented.

Real World: Multiple story possibilities exist until defined in or out of existence by a storyteller.
It may not have been deemed necessary for the filmakers' particular story so was left open ended or perhaps they felt there they had reached the limits of tolerable exposition in that conversation already.
She may FEEL STRONGLY SHE WOULD KNOW but could be mistaken.
It pays to remember that apart from the opening crawl all dialogue in SW is just some characters thoughts, opinions or claims. They're all fallible and may be mistaken - about a great...many...things!

Perhaps Rey was somehow cloaked from The Force giving those who sense her the impression of her death.
If Rey was a presumed dead Solo, her battle hardened parents aren't necessarily going to be getting misty eyed over every Force Sensitive caucasian-looking girl of similar age, eye and hair color!

Because the chosen one partly failed and thus just started the process. Luke and Ben have to finish it.
Maybe after defeating the Sith, the source of the dark side (snoke) was expected to appear and the chosen one was meant to stop him. Unfortunatly the chosen one died too early by sacrificing himself for his son.

everything you say here is reasonably true. however, it's not very good storytelling for a planned trilogy if it turns out to be the case.

it adds nothing to the narrative if it doesn't mean anything crucial to the action (and therefore a pointless reveal), and it's complete deus ex machina if it does.

in the realm of film, it could absolutely happen (and does all the time). it's could even work somehow if Johnson is brilliant enough to play catch up in a satisfying way. but right now, at this very moment, it's a weak choice given the story we've been presented so far.

This. This is the point I was trying to make with my questions:
Not that Rey Solo isn't an impossibility. But that it would be poor storytelling. At the very least, TFA and the accompanying recent novels would be greatly diminished and great opportunities within them missed (for the sake of an obvious reveal).

    Article:

"Carrie tragically died at the age of just 60 and will make her final outing as the iconic Princess Leia in 'The Last Jedi', which is released in December 2017.
Director Rian Johnson has reassured fans that Princess Leia's final outing will offer "some kind of catharsis" and "emotional satisfaction" to fans who know it is her final appearance in the sci-fi saga.
Johnson, 43, said: "I hope it emotionally gives some kind of catharsis ... it gives some kind of emotional satisfaction. I think so, I really hope so. I know for me it does ... It will mean a lot to people."

My thoughts about this: Kylo will not offer any emotional satisfaction to broken Leia's heart in ep VIII, if he gets redemption, its in episode IX.

    Luke..he is her brother...

So the one who will offer the catharsis for Leia that Rian Johnson is talking about could only be Rey.

    But how?

How about revelation that this great and powerful , graceful girl , "a New Hope for the galaxy", is her daughter.

That Leia didn't lived in vain.

I wish that, now that Carrie died so Leia is leaving the scene I wish that more than ever.

I have no clue whether she is a Solo or Luke's kid, but I believe she was being 'babysat' on Jakku and both Han and Luke knew she was there. It is just too much coincidence that the Falcon was there...in her village...and that almost immediately as they take it out into space Han Solo appears out of nowhere to 'get his ship'. Yes I know Star Wars is full of coincidences, but I do not think this is one of them.

On one hand I find it hard to believe she is Luke's. I mean she was like 8 or 9 in TFA when she is abandoned. The destruction of the Jedi temple was years away. She obviously has no remembrance of Luke, so we would have to take that to mean that Luke knowingly gave her to someone else to raise, who then in turn left her on Jakku or that Luke had a wife or girlfriend, got her pregnant, and she left without ever telling Luke. I don't think that is a story that Star Wars wants to tell in the next 4 hours of the two remaining movies.

If she is a Solo...why do the Han and Leia seemingly never bring her up as her daughter. Don't get me wrong, in the end I think Han knew who she was (see paragraph 1), but I do not think Leia knows her. If that was the case we would have to believe that Leia gave up her daughter, doesn't see her for a dozen years, and then in their one encounter that we see it is just sort of this 'ho-hum Han is dead hug' we see at the end of TFA. If Leia is her mom, then Leia's one Jedi power is Poker Face.

All that being said, I want her to be either a Skywalker or a Solo, because if she is neither, then 7-9 is nothing but a setup for 10-12.

I feel the same at this stage.
Maybe that's putting the cart before the horse a little - at least until a story plays out that way.

I'm not sure if such an information reveal would qualify as deus ex machina unless it abrubtly solves a seemingly unsolvable problem. It's possible it could just up certain stakes or extra layers of intrigue and tragedy.
    1. Deus ex Machina are solutions to a problem. They are never unexpected developments that make things worse, nor sudden twists that only change the understanding of a story.
    2. Deus ex Machina are sudden or unexpected. This means that even if they are featured, referenced or set-up earlier in the story, they do not change the course of nor appear as a natural or a viable solution to the plotline they eventually "solve".
I understand why people - especially those with a strong view on what the characters would/should do - might have serious issues if TPTB ever went the Rey Solo direction.

absolutely, and that's why i said, Johnson could pull it off.
but the trajectory we've been provided doesn't seem to indicate that as a logical/natural direction given traditional storytelling.

if it's the "cause" of her Force power, or the reason she's the chosen one (or whatever), then yes, it's solving the problem in a manner of speaking.
your second point there, though, kinda makes the case. there's a reason this trope is derided or disparaged. it's a gimmick, plain and simple. Star Wars is certainly full of gimmicks, but i would hope another familial reveal would be one they might avoid.
it all depends on how it plays out, of course. i for one rolled my eyes at Kylo Ren being Han & Leia's son in TFA, but it all worked out in the end. : D

I sometimes have to remind myself it's a kids movie! I could handle them being parents of a villain but rolled my eyes at the clunky way they revealed - your father...Han Solo...

I think that Rey is Han Solo’s and Leila’s daughter it would make sense I mean each time someone would ask who’s Rey it’s a member of the Solo family and after they ask the scene is cut.... And it would also continue the Skywalker story because Leia is a Skywalker so to me it makes total sense

Perhaps in the past, before ep VII. Leia and Han had only Ben.
    Maybe its simple as that.
Maybe multi billion dollar SW project with all those great minds and writers engaged for years simply has no story cover of 23 years before TFA (that is how much of the story is totaly unexplained before Aftermath and Bloodline novels in the canon.). Maybe Ben turned to Dark side because of teenage hormons and Snoke's lies, and Solo 's were terrible parents.

And maybe Han and Leia had another child, and lost it, which would be sad but great story behind, one that fills the void in the story line .And Ben , as well as entire family was profoundly shaken for years before they shattered at the end and Ben turned to darknes.

Tragedy is thus maybe much greater than we know . Han and Leia at the end had lost (thought they lost) both of their children, their fight for Ben was their last stand, but the "catharsis"(Rian Johnson), and "moral satisfaction"(RJ again), as well as great twist is already thus in the story. This, in my eyes, fitts to a truly great Star Wars project.

Not really... The PT made it seem like it is a special propecy, maybe the only one. It's about a single "chosen one", not multiple. If there are imbalances and balances than there can't be a single chosen one.
If there are multiple chosen ones and propechies, than what practical use would foretelling about events that everyone knows have? Prophecising about a shady temporary victory far in the future seems like something a bad writer would artificially insert into an already complete story. Oh, wait a sencond...
If it's just about a random victory, than it makes some sense, but is absolutely useless.
The original darfts had little to do with the final movie. Also, I really hope you aren't trying to say that the "son of sons" (which is rather son of suns, I suppose) was referring to Anakin...
Anakin wasn't even Luke's fater when Star Wars was released in 1977.
It only makes sense if it's about "destorying the sith" (as Obi-wan said), not "destroying the sith that are active at the time". Quite the difference.

There was 0 confirmation. No evidence.

Its a 2 year old video FROM BEFORE TFA was released. Nothing has changed.
