That reminded me of another movie scene that touched me in a similar manner. It was a silly movie too. Hellboy...and the passing of Nuada: we die...and the world will be poorer for it.
So much beauty that mankind has already doomed, killed, irreparably damaged that it makes my heart want to burst from sadness....and the worst thing about it. Mankind is never aware of the loss until it is too late. And why? For what....progress? What progress can come out from destruction? Now this....this reminded me of Princess Mononoke...ever seen that?

To say I am not emmotionaly invested into Kylo's redemption enough to be projecting would be a lie. And an understatement of the century. But isn't the level of emmotional investment the best sign of how good the story is?

What i wrote is how i would like the story to enfold. Will it? Dunno. And if it doesn't I will be disapointed for sure. Will I go on forums and write about how thouroghly disapointed and disilusioned I am, I seriously doubt so. I kinda allow myself to be invested now partly cuz we don't know what will happen and partly cuz I enjoy the fact that this silly movie (common, star wars? Nerd's extravaganza?!) has made me relate to a fictional charachter to this degree? It's unprecedented so I allow it lol...

And yes I agree. Please no twilight. Seriously.

The fan girls make great Reylo videos, oh and the "You have compassion for her. It isn't her strength that is making you fail. It's your weakness" is from the novelization and canon.

I'm listening to the Star Wars Oxygen podcast right now. They're analyzing the music of The Force Awakens in depth and it's mind-blowing.
The last three notes of Kylo Ren's theme are the same as the first three notes of Rey's theme.
There's also some Across the Stars in her theme.

 

The reylo people that were banned from TFN discussed to the length (and from very proffesional POVs) ALL of the points pro and con reylo from when the movie first came out. Most of the people there were not 12 yearold crazed schoolgirls but educated mature people often with extensive background in music, film and storytelling, both visual and narrative, that provided great insights into literature, art and movie references that back up reylo.

Lolz...it always makes me chuckle to see how different people can be very similar.

 

I don't know anything about notes, but the end of "Kylo Ren Arrives at the Battle" is a sequence of "Rey's Theme" in the album version. And it serves no purpose there, that's not how the piece sounds in the movie. It's pretty cool, it made me think they he knew her before TFA and she somehow played a part in him becoming Kylo Ren. As if everything goes back to Rey and she could undo it. But it turns out they didn't know each other, so she'll undo it just because ha ha
I don't know about "Across the Stars" though.....all the pieces have common elements, so I don't know if it means something. But I love that piece, it's so freaking beautiful, it makes me wonder if John Williams could compose something like that again. If they go for reylo, there will have to be a theme, but I don't know if it can even come close to "Across the Stars", that one is a masterpiece.

 

I think he had (Force) visions of her well before the happenings of TFA the same she had of him in Maz's Castle. Perhaps he saw her in a vision related to happenings on Jakku. Why else would he react the way he did when Mitaka mentions a girl. "WHAT GIRL?'
Cuz he is a mysogenist? Cuz there are no other girls in the Universe?
It's cuz he knows of her, I think.

(Our spies *cue evil laugh* on the Dubrovnik set said they filmmed a tall dark young man/boy who gazes dreamingly into the stars...who knows...maybe that was a flashback of young Ben daydreaming about Rey?)

 

Thought- Kylo seems like he could pretty easily fall for Rey (given how obsessed he already is with her).

But what if the feeling isn't mutual? What if Rey and Finn end up getting together, even? Could be a kind of interesting difference between Anakin (who turned to the dark side because he felt he had to save Padme) and Kylo (who, potentially, could turn to the light despite his feelings of dejection with Rey).

 

I keep wondering that myself, the Force vision thing, because she did of him when touching the saber. I go back and forth as to him knowing who she is.

 

He does most likely know her. In the novel, when Rey pulls the lightsaber out of the snow, Kylo says "It IS you!"

 

Exactly. Even in the movie there is awe and recognition on his face

I don't think he knows who she is. Her name and her genealogy. I just thinks he knows her. He has seen this girl. I'd wager many times in his head. I think he felt connected to her through Force. Or she does have some special meaning. Her blood, I mean. Only 11 more months to find out

Kylo will not 'turn' to the light cuz of some chick. Even if she is Mary Sue. He is a true gray jedi i think since he is the perfect embodiment of both aspects of the Force. Isn't that what visual dictionary or something says about him. He sucked as light sider, he sucks as darksider. He'll be a gray jedi. Like the old Je'daii order was.

Dunno if reylo will happen or not. But those two already have a connection, much deeper than Finn can ever have with Rey. They share the Force. I can't see it be fair to Finn if there is a Kylo in Rey's head all the time.
Plus. He has another love interest in 8, no? I mean...He rides a faviar with KMT!!! A faviar...it is not some faul beast. It is a space horse!!!

I guess that idea is so preposterous to me based on what we have seen in TFA. I took it as a serious film and a serious story that reaches farther out beyond the borders of the Galaxy far far away. Degrading a potential that lays in that romance to some third grade fanfic fantasies of neuterization such as twilight is would be such a waste of everyone's talents.
However, you have a point and I will try to use less absolute statements, deal?

Neutering kylo would probably result in more whinniness and that would be too much even for a Skywalker.

I dunno. I think, I hope it won't happen. Unless ofc they go down the route of the ultimate badassed evilnes and he becomes evil incarnate that kills galaxies and whatnot and Snoke is really Kylo from the future...lolz...
But that would be the opposite of the direction his charachter has embarked on. Why waste such emmotional drama that was shown in him in TFA if he is to become planely ugly evil. If it is to show his downfall then the story should have started at the point his downfall started. That would make much more sense. He is a bad guy already. So the only way is up? Uuu Baby

Or maybe Rey is a Skywalker, afterall. I am quite imaginative creature but I can imagine a story that entails Luke abandoning his child and making him look good in the process. He was strong enough in the Force to know Leia was his sister in RotJ already, so I don't think he couldn't have felt his child. Or is Jakku a Force-in-people blocking planet or some sith like that...lol. Besides, Luke is a Jedi. A true Jedi. Like Yoda was. Full of compassion for people in general...mankind and alienkind cuz he is a space Jesus of sorts. He transcends gender and petty human needs such as sex. He deals with the higher spheres of existence, spiritual not corporal. I just can not imagine him make love to a woman. No matter what the EU says. EU that was wipped from cannon btw.
Plus the cousins rivalry thing is just mweh but I am okay with not counting that as argument cuz it's my personal feeling

If they were brother and sister that would be so much more intense. But again? Han and Leia abandoning their child? In that shitty place, Jakku?
Plus...the chemistry between the two characters and the symbolism in their interactions is waaaaay too sexualized for a familial connection. I know inapropriate behaviour between siblings is not unprecedented in SW, since Luke and Leia kissed, but that kiss was never about Luke and Leia's love story. It was a show for Han to make him jealous. To add to another great unconventional love story of SW.

Sometimes I think I give the creators and writers of SW to much credit...that they can't possibly pull this off....but then I remember what they already did in tfa and that this is the age of antiheroes in movies. It is not the 80ies when the plain good vs. evil story satisfied. The movies with complex charachters that enduce emmotional investment from the audience (yes even hating a character entails emmotional investment) do great on grossing money. Common, TFA features the most annoying Skywalker but is one of the most financially succesfull movies of our times? And that was mostly cuz people loved it enough to go watch multiple times. And pay for it. Lol.

Dammit...who can wait 11 more months...

 

I think that Reylo, in some form, WILL happen. Because it's just set up like that.

Finnrey was busted looong ago by John Boyega, saying Rey and Finn are friends and that theres no romance at all between them. They have always played them as friends. And they also behave like friends. Finn was ultimatively put in the friendzone when Rey also called him "my friend". Who does that to a crush?

Kylo is the prince. He is set up as such and he really is a prince, since he is the son of Leia Organa. And Rey is referred to as a princess/compared to Cinderalla even.

So yah, it's sort of obvious that there will be some sort of attraction/affection but if Kylo doesn't do some really GOOD things or Rey won't go dark I think that Reys moral compass would keep her from getting with Kylo anyways, even if she would find herself dawn to him in secret.

Kylo is very obviously drawn to Rey and it's not in a way a family member would recognize his long lost sister/cousin. I am 99% sure they aren't family.

The storytelling and the symbolics just SCREAM Reylo. And Poe and Finn won't end up together either, I guess. If there will be a gay couple I think it at least won't include Finn. Maybe Poe. But not them being together.

If I got this right:

Hard way = escaping all you know and all you were told is the ultimate truth and authority cuz you realized they were wrong? (What Finn did. He came back only for Rey)

Easier way = turning against and fighting all you know and all you were told is the ultimate truth and authority cuz you realized they were wrong? (What Kylo did)

They both turned away from their belief system. In a way. But not in the same way.

I presume that Kylo had an ulterior motive to do what he did. One we still don't know. Why is he doing all this? Why he turned away from Luke and Jedi way.
I firmly believe that he did not turn to the dark cuz he wanted more power. Perhaps control of the power inside him. That he could not attain on the Jedi side of the Force that was teaching him to just ignore some feelings that are natural to people. (Denial never results in good things imo) he sucked as a Jedi...he clearly sucks as a darksider...darksiders have no guilt, compassion, sorrow, doubts when they go about killing people. Do they? I don't honestly know...but Supreme Leader Snoke considers Kylo Ren to be the ideal embodiment of the force, a focal point of both light and dark side ability. So he is not either...he is both....kinda like the Batman

But did Kylo Ren really take the easy path? He seems conflicted and fighting the light side, which is the side that is supposed to be harder to be pulled into, the dark side, as Yoda said, is more seductive. Why then does he have to fight the light side? I don't think he is having an easy time of it.
