Brainwashing would be the easiest route they could take. I hope they dont. But give a man a motive most viewers can relate to and with it you can do a lot. In terms of how a charachter is percieved.

What we know of their roles in TLJ and what Carrie said, an understanding will definitely happen between them eventually, but first she must overcome her rage. That same rage that led her to nearly killing him like a voice in her head told her at the end of TFA.

Interview today and some guy said Rey was planned to be a Kenobi (30.00).

It makes sense if you think about it.

- Rey has his mannerisms (how she looked when she used the mind trick on the Stormtrooper), and accent (Daisy had to be coached to sound like Obi-Wan).

- She is called to by Obi-Wan when she touches the saber Anakin constructed.

- Daisy thought it was obvious who she was related to, and she would probably think that since she was trained to be like him possibly.

- J.J said her family was not in the movie, then clarified and said she hasn't found them yet. Obi-Wan was there, but she has no idea who he is.

Ben is the fallen Skywalker, already in Anakin's position by the end of 3 with his darkness. Rey was awakened and when they met, they formed a connection and their destines intertwined. Instead of an older male Kenobi guiding a young male Skywalker, she is a young female Kenobi guiding an older male Skywalker.

My theory is, Obi-Wan did not want another failure, and Rey was shown the Skywalker past and the man she was meant to meet, and Obi-Wan wants Ben saved, and probably Anakin too, so his descendant is the new Kenobi to help Skywalker find his path back to the light.

I also admit the timing of the Obi-Wan movie is interesting, and in TLJ she is looking more like Obi-Wan all the time, and let's face it, SW is not SW without a Kenobi.

Sadly since all of this is likely not going to happen since she might no longer be a Kenobi and just a nobody, anything can happen really, especially with this Chosen One talk Rian mentioned.

 

Well....duh....how else would we get Skywalker-Kenobi babies needed for 10-12?

Dont forget how that embrace with Leia would make much more sense if she were Kenobi's granddaughter. She is family. Just... not by blood.

 

I wonder if they are still going to go through with it. She is still very much a Kenobi in everything but name in TLJ and it would be interesting and a twist for a Kenobi to fall in love with a Skywalker.

 

Dunno....but Kenobi and Skywalkers are the yin and yang of the Saga.

 

That poster also makes 100% sense now.

 

I just hope...they did not gave in to the online hate against reylo and changed it. I can still see it work with no romance. Family and yin and yang, indeed:

-I hate you!
-You were my brother, Anakin! I loved you.

Brrr....

 

I said awhile back they do not have to have any romance in it, but hint at something in IX, and leave it for fans to decide it they become more or just companions. Just a nice, warm bond that stays in the middle would be beautiful. It would also feel like Anakin/Padme and Obi-Wan/Anakin is set right with them if he is redeemed.

 

I could live with that

I woke up this morning thinking how mesmerized Kylo looked when she summoned his birthright lightsaber to her...can you imagine how much more amazed he would be if she finished what his grandad started? Bring the balance?
I get weird thoughts when i wake up

 

I was watching the movie last night and I agree he looked mesmerized. If the Kenobi thing is still happening, what I am waiting for is when she hands Anakin's lightsaber to Ben, just as Obi-Wan did with Luke.
