    to me he's like a kid awakening from the realization that he's been used and abused--yet again--to his way of thinking.
    of course he's going to lash out, try to bury it all. that "redemption" is another lie to him.
    he's trying to take back power to spackle over his helplessness.
    it's completely heartbreaking. it's horrific. his behavior is so pathologically unhinged.

    can he still learn from his mistakes and experiences?
    i say yes. Star Wars is about a hope that springs eternal.
    but yeah, we've got a long road to go here.

    I think that was the plan - for Leia to redeem him. And that was the most logical choice. Now I don't know what or how they'll try to do it, because no matter how much I didn't want that to happen after TFA, Luke is my guide, if he said it, if he believes it - they were/are going for it. With Carrie gone... Ho, boy, JJ has his work cut out fot him.

    yeh nah, not gonna happen. i may have thought this could, if Rose were to be in th enext film - but nope. Finn and Rey or keep them single. thats what makes the most sense. half way through TLJ i would have said yes, this is likely to happen, but no, absolutely cannot see it happening now.

    But the problem is that he doesn't THINK he needs to be redeemed. He thinks he's in the right. That his intentions are good. He sees the damage done to the galaxy because of the jedi-sith conflict and the rebellion-empire conflict. He got an apology from Luke but he doesn't know that it was all just a misunderstanding. As far as he's concerned, he's still been betrayed by everyone he loved. Right or wrong. He hasn't had his reckoning yet.
    However, he still has the force-fed with Rey. He'll find out eventually and the repercussions of his actions will define Episode 9.

    Rose is still alive. And to write in a romance after the whole Rey-Kylo force bond stuff will just be a ??
    She'll either end up without a romantic partner or she'll end up with Kylo.

    Leia kisses Luke to make Han jealous.

    Rose kisses Finn. There's no ulterior motive. Besides, John Boyega and Daisy have repeatedly said that Finn and Rey are like brother and sister.

    Kylo is a slow learner.

    He reminds me of my 7 year old nephew. Their stubborness and impetuousness border on the ridiculous. I was really looking forward to seeing TLJ with him today because he reminds me of Kylo so much. He wasn't allowed to come because he squirted his little sister with spray n wipe cleaner yesterday.

    This leaves me sad and my nephew sadder than Kylo at his saddest. Unfortunately I think both Kylo and my nephew discount consequences due to a heavy presentism bias - kinda the opposite of Luke with his eyes always on the horizon. What's worse is it looks like they're both doomed to this cycle of perpetual suffering until something changes.

    Anyway, I was talking on the way to TLJ about how I pity Kylo but worry he may be a lost cause and I asked a 9 year old girl for her opinion on the matter. How many times does she think it's worth forgiving a baddie before giving up? She flashed 10 fingers at me 9 times and confirmed she thought ninety times felt about right.

    Now I have a niece and a nephew I'm worried about.

    I disagree because in my head ReyLo has always been about the connection between the two characters, rather than just a plain old love story. Besides, atleast in my opinion, which may differ from yours, it's never been more alive. :)
