SPECULATION Rey's Junk Dealer Drunk Parents

Is this taken from somewhere or just made up? Whatever the case, it was an interesting read

Also, im new here and i want to make a new thread about something, but i think i read that i have to make 30 posts before i can do that .. Which seems kinda ridiculous to me :S Is that the case or is there something else i can do? xD

 

Kylo says she was sold for alcohol? How does he know? Did he partake in a drink with them? Maybe we are looking at it wrong? What was being bought to start with? It may have been supplies, it could have been holy water? It could have been anything. The truth but not correct.

 

If Kylo was making this statement based on her memories, there is even the possibility that these memories were false or confused since these events happened when she was very young....and the people she thought were her parents might not have even been her parents.

 

Whatever Rey's backstory, it would have to include how Kylo knows about her. It's possible he knows about her because of Snoke telling him, but in TFA I always got the impression there was more to it than that.

After TLJ, it would have to include how Kylo knows the details (sold her I get, but the reasoning to me implies there's more to the tale). Again, he could have had informants research her past on Jakku, but there was precious little time for them to uncover the info and then get it to him, but not impossible either. We also never got the impression he needed more info, he seemed to be pretty sure of who she is.

Personally I think Rey's parents are nobodies, but not as bad as Kylo makes them out to be.

My theory is that her parents were on the run from the FO but their ship was damaged. While Rey's parents were repairing the ship, Unkar Plutt found out they were wanted (maybe with the info of Luke's whereabouts, but the FO only knew her parents were somehow connected to Luke). He contacted the FO and kidnapped Rey to keep her parents from leaving. Somehow her parents found out the FO was on their way and had to make a horrible choice. Thus Rey was never a slave and had her freedom, but Unkar Plutt could have tried to make her his slave (or caretaker) but once Rey got older managed to prove her freedom.

As for her parents, maybe they were on their way to bring her to Luke. Maybe one or both were force sensitive themselves, or knew someone who was (and thus she got some very early training that was mostly forgotten due to the trauma of seeing her parents leave and her young age). I'd love to see that she was practicing with the Force before TFA, but I always felt it was implied that she never had any inkling of the force until she experiences it in the movie.

There's definitely room for expansion on her past, but I'm not sure if that will be included in 9. I get the impression that there's no desire to explore her history and they just want to move forward with the character and story line. Maybe one day we'll get something on it.

At 5 or 6, that's right around the same age Kylo would have been when he and Luke had it out. I don't think that's a coincidence. Maybe Rey was supposed to replace Kylo at Luke's school? Kylo offered that to Snoke as a means to get an apprenticeship?

Nothing official on Rey's past yet, so just some fan theory on the ops part. Always fun to read and he did a good job with it.

 

Easy fix to Rey’s parents, assuming she is not related to any known character prior, instead of junk dealers, make her father a lousy Merchant who sold her for profit. There, explains the ship flying away. Plot hole solved.
