    It's not that we need to see Kylo and Rey train, we need to see Snoke and Luke teach and the contrast between them.

    Remember, Kylo abandoned Luke's teachings and found Snoke's more appealing. When he learns the lesson of the Dark Side (it consumes and destroys everything), If the viewers are to feel any sympathy for him, we have to see it, otherwise he is just an evil dude who throws temper tantrums, fanboys over Darth Vader and who killed his dad not to feel drawn to the Light.

    i agree it would be edifying to see the contrast, but it's a weird assumption that Kylo Ren thinks Snoke's methods are "more appealing" since 1.) we don't know much of anything concrete about either teachings at this point and 2.) he didn't seem to think they were so great in TFA (in fact, he practically openly complains about his training).

    Well, he certainly wanted to please Snoke throughout the film, so he must be getting something out of that relationship that he liked more than what he previously had. However, I don't think he really knows what he got into - not completely, not yet. That is the revelation we need to see AND his reaction.

    We've seen dark side training. Palpatine had Anakin slaughter a bunch of kids. Then he had Anakin slaughter a bunch of rich, old, unarmed Separatists.

    If I want to accept a redemption in 9 his redemption better start soon in 8.

    That's a weird understanding of training.

    They've already started the redemption in TFA, so i could very may be that Ren gets redeemed in TLJ.

    more and more i think it's happening.
    he may not be fully both feet in the Resistance and there certainly won't be any parade, but i do think he'll break from the FO/Snoke before the end of TLJ.

    I really would like an endling like this:
    Rey got captured by the FO and Ren is injured and unconscious at the Resistance Base. This is one hell of a cliffhangar and a good set up for EPIX. Will Ren flee? Will he stay? Find out in the next episode of The Star Wars. :D

    that's very close to what i'm thinking as well!
    i think Ren will deliberately go Rogue from the FO/Snoke, but he'll have to be captured or forced by the Resistance.
    i don't don't think he'll be injured (we've seen him beaten already). i think it'll be more perplexing than that: he has the power to escape, but chooses not to.
    maybe his rationale is that he can't abide the thought of what might happen to Rey (whether she is captured or imperiled in some way).
    and/or he just secretly still wants to come home but absolutely doesn't think it's possible.

    i don't think his disposition will be remotely resolved in TLJ, but i do think he will see/talk to his mother and that his fealty to Snoke will be over.
    it could end with a very tentative truce between him and Luke--possibly on the understanding that it's for the "greater good".

    I like the concept of her having the bo-saber but that one is far too large. She'd be dead in seconds once Kylo closed any distance.

    Well Luke's lightsaber was hard for her to handle IMO during the duel, yeah the weapon she's holding would get cut up.

    She needs one closer to Maul's or maybe a little more unique...
    I'd like to see it more as a breakable weapon designed to be two smaller sabers or a longer bo-saber.

    Indeed. It wouldn't feel like she was having to fight the weapon.
    To borrow from Harry Potter a bit...the saber chooses the Jedi...or it should.

    A 120 lbs (55 kg) woman is going to struggle with a weapon designed custom for a 185 lbs (84 kg) man in almost any situation.
    Luke was short but he had some mass to him...

    I really hope they go into it more and give her something special and unique.
    I want my younger cousin's to see Kylo's and Rey's sabers the way I saw the original sabers and even Maul's.
    Just with wide-eyed amazement at something you never saw before.
