    Many people are assuming that Rey is keeping Anakin's light saber and even though I think she is a Solo/Skywalker(Ben's lil sis) I believe to complete her training she must build her own! I'd personally like to see her modify her staff into a double bladed saber. It fits her style of acrobatic fighting and technique and would be the perfect fit for her. It also reminds me a bit of Bastila Shan from KOTOR who was so so bad. :)

    What do you guys think? Please vote and explain / reflect :)

    I think that she will be using Anakin's lightsaber for most of VIII then having to construct her own single blade one for IX in order to complete her training & become a Jedi.

    I agree, but this still has the chance that she will do saberstaff style in IX. Maybe Kylo takes the Skywalker saber during their reunion duel in TLJ?

    I think the staff is very Rey, and it would be a neat way to finally see a character build their lightsaber in a non-deleted scene in the films.

    Can't remember, though- doe she even still have that staff?

    I think you're partially right. I'm guessing she'll start her training with Anakin's saber, but eventually build her own whether that is in episode 8 or more likely 9 ( like Luke with his green saber)

    Yeah, I wasn't sure if it was taken by the FO (and maybe stolen back) or if she had left it on the Falcon on Takodana. The fact that she still has it is interesting, though.

    A lot of people have made the connection between Revan and Kylo Ren. I wonder if we might get a yellow doublebladed sabre for Rey, implying she's some sort of reimagined Bastila. That'd gel with the implication that she might go to the Dark Side at some point, too.

    As much as I'd love to see more Knight of the Old Republic become canon, I think Disney will wait for that to be its own Saga.. But it's not far fetched to think Rey would have a double bladed light saber. The first time we see her in combat she's wielding her staff as if it were one (holding it in the center). My guess is during most of 8 she will use Anakin's then build her own which could totally be a double bladed. Especially her becoming aware that she will prob be fighting multiple enemies on her own often with the Knights of Ren on her tail and needs two blades. :)

    True, but part of becoming a Jedi is constructing your own lightsaber. Would be cool if she made her own using the Blue Crystal from Anakin's! The crystal did call to her..

    Yeah, I've wondered that, too.

    Though I guess it's possible that Ren broke the green one, it was lose, or another student has it. Without Obi Wan to look after his lightsaber, Luke seems to be about as good as Anakin was at keeping track of it.

    I actually think if Luke is a solid mentor, he'll see that the staff has been Rey's weapon of choice since Jakku and play to her strengths by having her construct a double bladed saber.

    Luke very well could have lost his Saber... There is rumor that Luke in fact lost his powers from Snoke and Ben using an ancient Sith weapon that essentially is FORCE DRAIN. In one of the novelizations (I think Bloodline) the last time Leia spoke with Luke he was investigating in the outer rim and they were cut off by a strong electric interference.

    Anakin's lightsaber was such a big deal in TFA that SOMEONE needs to use it for its story and symbolism to make sense. I assume that someone will be Rey. However, Rey is FAR more proficient with the bo-staff than she is with the blade... then again, fighting with a staff is not the same as fighting with a staff-blade, so whatever Rey is going to use she will need a fair bit of training. (In reality, it is Daisy Ridley who has some sword practice to do, as do Adam Driver and -- if he's to pick up a lightsaber again -- John Goyega, based on the skills displayed in TFA).

    So, all things being equal, I think she will wield Anakin's lightsaber.

    I would guess Rey will use Luke's blue saber for episode 8, the lose it at the end, and making a new one between episode 8-9, mirroring Luke's story.
