The ending basically tells us the outcasts and downtrodden and nobodies. It won't be some chosen one any longer. Rey is the first and the new Jedi rises

 

Anakin was also one of those as mentioned in your post. Was he not?

ReyLo if does come to pass is maybe LFL's way to ensure a new generation of Skywalkers?

I wonder if Lucasfilm's plan to end the Skywalker saga involves the end of the Skywalker family? I would personally prefer a happy ending for them, but it's kind of difficult to see how we can get that now that Kylo is the last living family member?

 

I doubt the interactions between Rey and Kylo are set in stone as far as where the character's directions will be going for finality.

Kylo's reaction to Rey being a nobody, no one important, daughter of drunkards was wonderful. It takes the "legacy" off of the force. You don't have to be the son or grandson of Anakin. You don't need a great name. You can just be....you. And his reaction of anger at that, thinking he DESERVES it because of his name, where as she is a nobody...wonderful

Without Snoke to manipulate him any longer, I think Ren will begin to stabilize emotionally. He's all the way into the darkness now.

 

There won’t be any ReyLo kids. Luke spoke disparagingly of the Skywalker bloodline. And ReyLo, in the romantic sense, had its brief time in the sun.

The Skywalker family will be done. The saga will be done. And after TLJ I cannot bloody wait for RJ’s trilogy!

 

If RJs trilogy has the terrible forced humor, non sensical plot devices and force users that need no training and can become god like, count me out.

Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher saved this movie. Rey and Finn were not compelling at all.

 

After watching the Force Awakens I really wanted to subscribe to Ray being Kylos Twin/Sibling and despite it being a little floored from casting alone, I wouldn't of minded if they had ham-fisted their way down that path in The Last Jedi.

After watching TLJ I too felt like Kylo was lying and there were lots of things prior that felt like they were hinting at a family connection...but now on reflection, i'm not sure. I do think that Ray has been created to be a totally new character. When Kylo mentioned Rays heritage and her "not belonging in the story" or however it went, I believe that just confirmed that this trilogy is the last of the Skywalker line and its approaching the end.

The scene with the little boy at the end, to me reaffirms the end of the Skywalker heritage and hints at the endless possibility the galaxy has with the telling of new stories. There is a theory that scene acts as a possible avenue for Johnsons new trilogy but I highly doubt it. I think if anything with Ray being a 'nobody' paired with the ending scene just sets up a platform of Ray continuing her journey in the Star Wars universe out side of this trilogy. Disney has made it no secret that they plan to continue doing films for years to come and I see this as the first building blocks in developing things past episode 9.

i don't know. he has a lot of rage to work through still and no one to help him through it. doesn't exactly lend to a stabilizing situation.
just in the course of the movie, he continues to fall apart to the very end.
he might cool off, detach...but it's all going to continue to roil under the surface until he deals with it.

Drama arises out of conflict and tension. Rey is definitely dark.

Rey is definitely Palpatine's grand daughter I think.

That would mean Kylo wasn't lying. Her parents were just scum, spawn of Palpatine who just left her there on Jakku.

Again, moviemaking 101, abused kids turn out to be strong later in life.

when she refused Kylo's offer it was her 100% refusing the dark side. She had conflict for dark side before but force bond with Kylo and realising her friends and innocents were dying and he was okay with that completely made her turn away from the dark.

Abused kids don't always turn abusive themselves, it would be a spit in the face for Luke's death and legacy if Rey went dark in IX.

Palpatine descendants wouldn't be junk traders, so no. Rey ain't a palpy.

Yeah he sounded soooo sure when he said that he'd destroy Rey, and that look of regret and longing that the end when he was alone was obviously a lie. /end sarcasm

You're completely right. He has a lot of emotional baggage before he's ready for a healthy romance or anyone relying on him, or him relying on anyone (he sees love as a weakness). Especially at the the end of TLJ, despite being free from Snoke, he's been out through the wringer and has had very little time to deal with all the events that have just occurred.

If I am wrong, I will own that proudly, but I just feel there is going to be a big reveal. Maybe even Skywalker himself didn't know. He consistently ask who she is in the film as if he had a hunch about something, but when she lends him the fact that she is unaware, it just seems to pass. However I am just that optimitic she is a Skywalker and just doesn't know it yet.
