Rey's new lightsaber in Episode IX

Rey won't repair the Skywalker saber, it would undo the entire meaning of its destruction. What's the point in tearing it in half if it'll just be repaired?

Most likely scenario is that Rey uses the kyber to make her own lightsaber, probably blue. Simple as that.

Nothing is more symbolic then repairing something that is broken.

 

It will be a new one, something decidedly ‘hers’ since she is finding her own identity. I would love to see a double bladed saber, but a single blade would be fine too as long as it is unique.

 

I’m going for blue but I’m torn between the single and dual bladed....

If we wanna make Rey’s new lightsaber to be so recognisable - I’d go for dual.
But the design of the hilt is important too. I’m thinking of something soft, earthly and feminine... Oh and all the parts come from Jakku. That’d be so cool.

Has to be a new saber. Why spend all that time going back to find Luke's green one when you can make your own?

 

Not only that, it's a necessary rite of passage for a Jedi.

Rey has the sacred texts. Luke tells us he won't be the last Jedi. We have no reason to think she would needlessly ignore the Jedi practice of lightsaber construction, though perhaps she would use Luke's crystals.

I think she'll use the Kyber crystal from Anakin's saber but the blade color would be cool if it shifted ligher blue or to almost white.

 

Agreed, though I want her to use a new crystal of her own. Forge her own path as a jedi, not relying on discarded parts from Jedi of the past. I'd like her to repair Anakin/Luke's old one to figure out how it works, then construct her own from scratch as a rite of passage. Anakin's old one can be a seed for a future story/trilogy, and Rey can have a new badass lightsaber of her own to carve out her own identity.

Why? He has his own, she doesn't.

 

she's already used his lightsaber once and there werent any lighsaber battles in TLJ so thats why I'm thinking she just might not have one and use the force instead

Yup. She only has the Luke's split saber... did the crystal split? That would be a good excuse for her to have twin blades. But here's a question... with the big blast that happened when the lightsaber split... did the crystal even survive? It's not like Kyber crystals are easy to find. I wouldn't mind a bit of plot around Rey trying to get a new crystal. Or maybe she goes back Ach-to and gets Luke's green saber. Wait... is it canon that the green saber was lost when Kylo brought the building down on top of Luke? We don't know if he has the green one. Maybe he tossed it away too.

I would hope that Rey gets a new lightsaber in episode 9 and that hopefully it would a double sided lightsaber.

Double sided lightsabers are typically affiliated with the dark side and the Sith which honestly makes me want Rey to wield a double sided lightsaber even more because 1) she already knows how to fight with a staff which a double sided lightsaber is modeled after and 2) Rey has flirted with the dark side and in the context of the balance and the grey would be a great way to represent the balance of the force if she had a Sith styled lightsaber, but with a kyber crystal more in line with the light side. Personally I would love to see Rey use a double sided lightsaber that's either white or yellow.
