    i think even if we find out she has a different name, she'll always be Rey, so it kinda doesn't make any difference to me.
    i kinda hope they name her parents but don't bother addressing whether Rey was her given name or just something she picked up herself on Jakku.

    Well, Han and Leia barely knew Obi Wan. Maybe their son's name was Luke's suggestion and he named his daughter after someone important to Leia.

    But you're 100% right that Breha Organa-Solo is the superior option :D

    I don't think Rey his her true name but one she took from the pilot's helmet on Jakku. How was it spelled, Rhea? If she has forgotten or has been mind wiped like some people are thinking then her real name to her might be unknown. I've always liked her production name of "Kira", so much as I named my cat.

    Quite so, but Leia knew of him, and he was very instrumental to bringing Leia and Han together. I think they should have used a different name for "Ben," but it's easier for the general audience.

    also convinced her real name is not rey- but i'm not sure it'll be shmi or amidala or anything. what was that name floating around a few months ago? valera? valera.. skywalker perhaps?

    Finn isn't Finn's birth name. Neither is the name Kylo Ren goes by; it was originally Ben.

    In the snowy forest flashback in the TFA novelizations, someone separated from another (presumably Daisy Ridley's character) is simply referred to as "sweetheart".

    On Jakku, in the movie, Unkar Plutt simply calls the little girl he's leading away as "girl".

    Refresh my memory, didn't Abrams say that the writers for the other films may continue various things from VII, but they may not? If my memory is correct, then Rey's whole name mystery may not be an 'issue,' they could focus on other things.

    Another name that the role that Daisy Ridley plays had in addition to Kira was Thea. Kira (initialed K) was the name that Ridley was filming under during the production of VII.

    Other additional names that were used on concept art and casting calls included "Snow Girl", "Fawn", "Sally", "Sera", "Kira", and "Rachel". "Rey" is the name we know from the film.

    Pablo Hidalgo claimed that Kylo Ren (set code name 'Jedi Killer') was given the name "Ben" late in production, due to perhaps Harrison Ford's influence. He had other names before then.

    i'm not sure who that is, but apparently disney copyrighted the name "valera" and some other name a few months ago.. and people speculated it might be the name of a new planet or character. i doubt rey will be valera, but i think the name is cool! haha

    Great point, @MagnarTheGreat: the other main characters in TFA used their real names. It makes sense if the same goes for Rey.
