    I'd like it if she turned out to be called Kyra originally, and Ky-lo Ren taking his name from the two people he wronged/hurt when he broke with Luke and dumped his uncle's daughter and his father's spaceship in the galactic junkyard of Jakku.

    I am sure the writers do get some inspiration for name meanings, but that theory of that dude with the cipher and all that was kind of neat. Plus, the movie having sun/son pun images and all that.

    well isn't that interesting. ha!

    i agree with @Jedi MD; there's a possibility Rey is a shortcut for her original name (a variation or pet truncation). start scouring the Star Wars for where that could fit in.
    i'd laugh so hard if Thayne Tyrell and Cienna Ree turned out to be Rey's parents. why not, they have a lot of Rs and Ys and Es between them!

    Has anyone thought of the possibility about that x-wing helmet with rey on it? I think Rey gave herself that name because of the helmet.

    I keep wondering about that and think that would be cool. Cienna Ree was kind of darker skinned I think, but it's a gffa and they could still make it someone light skinned being their kid.

    yeah it's a waaay long shot, but Thayne was a pasty blondie if i recall, so maybe the mix between them = lightly tanned freckled brunette? hahaha

    My guess is Padme as neither Skywalker child knew their birth mother; as to her last name I still lean Solo but who actually knows anymore but she is definitely a "Skywalker" descendant imo

    Rey does NOT look like a mixed child. But then again, the author pictured Cienna Ree looking like Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who herself is mixed. Rey as a quarter black??? That's crazy.
    Then there were rumors of Gugu being up for a secret part in Episode VIII, which she continuously denies.

    I think I just gave myself a headache.
