People are entitled to their opinions and people like what they like. But one of the determining things for me in seeing a movie (or not) is why people dislike or like a film.

And I have found that most of the bashing of the ST, or at least the last two films boil down to this:

Most of the 'criticism' about the film centered around the treatment of Luke. (Because a 50 year old man is supposed to think, behave and react the same way he did in his 20's) . The film should have featured the original 3 characters and no one else. It was too boring (ie. intellectual/nuanced), or they had a problem with Holdo's manner and abrasiveness and don't feel she should have taken a front seat. And the hatred of Rose, which was clearly based on people's smallness.

I have only seen one criticism on the ST saying that it was kinda dumb/cartoony and that Disney should have done something similar to Chuck Weddig Empires' End. Otherwise it's just that it doesn't fit my head cannon ipso facto it's bad. The name calling of Johnson the calling for people to be fired at Disney is just a bit much for me to take complaints from the haters seriously. And why it seems as if Disney has dismissed the detractors as incels/manbabies. The film box office results for TLJ is proof positve that the film was enjoyed by a vast number of the public and that kind of story telling works. Which is why we got a great ROS .

Perhaps the hate we think it's got, is less than what is actually going on most viewers head. Some are very vocal, and others profit from it. Disney should had given him the final one.

Actually I would argue it's the opposite when it comes to Cruise. I liked him better when he was younger. He came across as more mellow and more mature when he was younger in his 20's. It was as he got older that he just became unlikable and silly.

We can only hope! Although the trailer seems to suggest that it's going to be a story about a man turning 25 for the 30th year in a row....

".......you should be a 2 star Admiral by now."

Ya know, admirals tend 2 b.......OLD. Hopefully the younger pilots call him grandpa & stuff.

Pretty much everyone assumes he's not doing the 2022 project that D&D walked away from so making a sequel makes a lot of sense, I'm sure the Knives Out sequel will be ready for Fall 2021. He had an idea already for a sequel so this should come together really quick.
