    I couldn't agree more.

RJ is a very talented guy, I loved Looper and I enjoyed Knives Out however I do think he is definitely more suited to creating his own story with his own characters. As for the RJ Trilogy, after TLJ I didn't think this would ever happen an it now looks dead in the water. Perhaps not a bad thing for Lucasfilm or RJ himself.

The weirdest complaint about RJ is that he's better off creating his own thing and that's not Star Wars. This is a franchise that's desperately in need of creativity. People like RJ are who they need to attract fans because there's only so much they can milk from the nostalgia cow.

It's not necessarily that it's not Star Wars, I agree that the franchise needs creativity and I think that if RJ had developed his own separate Star Wars stories with completely new and no pre-existing characters then I would have a different opinion of his time with Lucasfilm.

I just don't think he is suited to working with characters/stories he did not create.

Yet, he directed 3 of the most famous Breaking Bad episodes ever. One episode is widely considered one of the greatest TV episodes of all time. Just because you didn't like one episode of Star Wars doesn't mean the guy can't work with existing characters. It kind of reminds me of the people who complain about the Breaking Bad episode "The Fly." That episode is by far the most controversial episode of the series. People hate it. That was Rian Johnson's first episode and it was a bottle episode. RJ's work was so great they brought him back for two more.

Well it doesn't look like Lucasfilm will be doing the same!

Isn't The Fly one of the more highly regarded episodes? I'm not a huge Breaking Bad fan (binged it several years ago), but I was under the impression it was rather well liked.

Though I guess the same could be said for TLJ... :p

Not a huge BB guy on the whole, but The Fly is very much a love it or hate it episode. And it really depends on what you like about the show and why you're watching.

And as @DailyPlunge said, it's a bottle episode. Explained best here:

Yes, the episode is critically acclaimed, but there are some who hate it. It's definitely the most polarizing episodes due to the nature of production.
I guess we'll see... there's been plenty of time for Lucasfilm to say they were parting ways and it hasn't happened.
Community is so great. I'm re-watching it now and if you've never seen it make it a priority. It's kind of amazing how many talented people were involved in make that show.

    YES!

Kind of off topic, but it's on Netflix US now.

Such a great, strange, captivating show.

Each episode is a weird new adventure- you go in expecting it to be a show about people in a Community college, but you definitely don't expect some of the bizarre high concept stuff that starts around the second half of the first season.

Community had a chance to be one of the greatest sitcoms ever. Then after s3 things went haywire and it never fully recovered but those first 3 seasons are peak sitcom IMO. 4,5 & 6 are solid with great moments.

Agreed- I didn't mind 5 and 6 at all, but 1-3 were absolutely incredible.

Why are they not saying hardly anything about this trilogy lately?

They haven't said anything about movies lately.

I feel like we're going through a cycle with this where is has to be reconfirmed for some people every 3-5 months.

Well they do have other projects that take more priority right now, plus with the pandemic filming as been put on hold. Meaning those more priority projects need to get shooting once they get the green light. As far as I'm concerned, no news is good news.
