    SKB.....I am not very patient waiting for this release! All I know is that right now, Youtube is chock full of very recently uploaded HD clips from R1.....Lucasfilms is trying to block them all but there are too many......

    Amazon UK has had it on pre-order for weeks - with two blu ray options, an IMAX poster sleeved variant and a 3D version with a 'bonus disc' (though curiously there's no explanation of the content on said bonus).

    I really wished they released this movie on 4k bluray. More movie studios need to get involved in the 4k market.

    Agreed.
    They do this with certain movies to drive up the chances that people will opt to buy/rent the earlier releases of the film on digital media on their streaming service (which, incidentally, is where their profit margins truly lie).

    Ironically, at least in my case, I decided to not buy or rent the film on its early digital release and bought my DVD at Wal-Mart, so Amazon ended up entirely losing my business in this transaction. :)

    Today is 6th April 2017. I still haven't bought Rogue One on any format. I haven't even bothered to watch a pirated version. Why? I just don't think its a very good film. The only exciting parts are the Scariff space battle and the Vader "walk of death" scenes. Those couple of minutes still do not justify my purchase of this very dull and badly constructed film, plus i can watch those two scenes for free on something as easily accessible as Youtube.

    I got it at Target just do to from the research I read said the Target version was gonna have extras not available on other formats.
