Very well said. VERY well said. As far as him being banned, he's definitely working hard on that. Around here, it doesn't take long for a troll to get the boot. ;)

Wow, that does sound like a much better and more coherent movie than what we got. I agree that the novel is light years ahead of the film in quality storytelling. Even small details like the fact that the reason Anakin so badly wanted to be on the Council was because he wanted access to the Jedi Archives in order to look for a way to save Padme, things like that make so much more sense than what we were shown on screen. Whenever I have the urge to watch RotS again, I just read the novelization instead.

Thanks for addressing that. And sorry the post was so long, i had just reached my boiling point.

I've loved all these inside scoops on the prequels guys!

And back to primary topic: I'm not worried about lfl being "lost." i believe there will be plenty of space battles to come

@tm0910196 pm me when somebody other than Dooku, loses their head. And keeps smiling.

We will have much to discuss about Lucasfilm, past, present and future.

LFL hasn't lost their way, but they have made some fans lose their mind.... from time to time.

I fully agree. An easy way to explain the Sith could have been to have Anakin present in the Jedi Council chambers (wouldn't be hard to get him into the scene since Qui-Gon is about to tell the Council about Anakin anyway), hear about the Sith, and ask about what a Sith is, kinda similar to how Luke asked the important questions to Obi-Wan in A New Hope about the Force and the Jedi.
Plus, it wouldn't be too complicate to tell the basic story. Something like (based on the idea Lucas had when writing the prequels):
"Two thousand years ago, a group of Jedi starting to believe that the Dark Side of the Force would lead to greater power. Also, they believed that as Force sensitives, the Jedi should rule over the galaxy. They were banished from the Order, which angered them. Wanting revenge and lusting for power, they plunged the galaxy into centuries of conflict, trying to destroy the Jedi and the Republic that we defend. A thousand years later, the last remaining Sith was destroyed."
And that's just a rough draft, but it gives a quick rundown on the Sith and their motivations. Plus, this explains why they looked outwards towards the Separatists instead of inwards (the Sith had tried to destroy the Republic, not corrupt it).
Honestly, this is a major problem with the prequels as the wrong things are left to the imagination with very little being fleshed out. Most of the villains don't have motivations, which is a bigger problem in the PT than in the OT or even The Force Awakens. With the OT, the fact that the villains are the establishment or are members of the criminal underworld, we can piece their motivations together quickly and easily. A similar case can be made with TFA. With the PT, it's not quite clear why most of the villains outside of Palpatine do what they do. I mean, for instance, I can understand the Trade Federation forming a blockade to protest the taxation of the trade routes, but invading a planet wouldn't help that at all. I can't see where that would benefit them.

Would anyone be interested in having an open discussion about the differences between the Drafts/Scripts/Novels and PT-Films? If so, mark this post with [George's face] and if I get 5-10 of them, I'll start the discussion and tag each one of you.

The main topics I'd like to cover are:

1.) TPM: Maul's role/ apparent death & almost unbelievable return
2.) AOTC: Syfo Dias and the clone army
3.) ROTS: Vader's turn and birth of the Empire
4.) The Plagueis Prequel Years, decade(s) before the Dark Times
5.) The force, then and now

Update: The domains I once utilized have expired and now they are in the hands of some foreign dating sites. Who knew.

I'm with you on that. I don't think I can add much, but I'm very interested to learn from this discussion.

    Plus, Plagueis was mentioned!

I'd like to know as well! I had kinda checked out by the time ROTS was released, so I'd love to hear what @Lord of the Rens can tell us. The guy is legit on the inside knowledge front back in the day.

I can agree with that. I mean, Fantasy is supposed to leave a bit of mystery so we can have our own interpretation, but you're right that the Sith were far too mysterious which made them not very interesting..Palpatine was interesting because he was the man behind the curtain, deceiving everyone around him, but as far as the Sith go..Basically we learned if you do evil things for your own benefit you're a Sith. Haha

I just get weary of all the Lucas haters and Abrams lovers when TFA was not only a mix tape, remake, but a movie entirely based off of what GL started, left behind and tried to continue to expand and create more which was the more ambitious approach than what Disney and other studios are doing these days. I understand JJ wanting to get back to the basics.. but he went wayyyyyy back and showed us nothing new.

Well put, my friend. I'm trying to relax.. TFA wasn't much, but it could pave the way to some great films. Time to relax a little and read some comics/books..

He was probably scared sh##less of ruining it and his rep by actually doing just that, trying something new. However sooner or later we are going to HAVE to see some really new ballsy approaches to the franchise. A cross guard light saber is not going to cut it, though IMO, it was cool to see that first trailer where Kylo stop's and ignites it.

Is that why you said that "ROGUE ONE" is lost?

I never understood why Abrams wanted to go back to the basics. Nor did I like that he did. I find it amazing that he has displayed more originality as a television producer than a filmmaker.

From the looks of the trailer we are indeed going to get an extended space dog fight sequence, though I don't think the u-wings are going to be doing much fighting in space. They appear to be more interplanetary land assault vehicles. The u-wings certainly light up some AT-ATs.

I know it's early but all we know about Rogue One to date screams they are right on target. I am even coming around to Jyn as Felicity's acting skills and delivery have been revealed superior qualities from the 1st teaser.

If it's a Star Wars movie you need to have actual war in the stars. It's in the title.

The battle in the tropical environment looks cool, as does that canyon planet attack.

Fortunately, RO looks like it has a good space battle in it. (Though it's a bunch of X wings attacking a space space station orbiting a planet with the shield generater being a major issue...sigh). It does look pretty cool and fairly different from the three previous Death Star attacks.

Looks like Rogue One has more than one extended space batttles, so I retract my comments, except for my complaints about JJ. Nothing changed there of course.

It takes a big person to admit they were wrong. I am not a big person, more of a medium, I can say that my concerns were unwarranted and conclusions were wrong in the original post.

I commend LFL for bringing back one of the most important elements in SW, and helping to get some of the JJ smell off of the franchise.
