Well, I've just bored Pablo Hidalgo with that awful theory and he actually spend his precious time to answer:



So, the character we see kneeling to the bacta tank is Kren Blista-Vaneé, who we've seen before on ROTJ.

OH SHOOT! VADER'S GOT A CASTLE ON MUSTAFAR? I'VE GOT TO SEE THIS MOVIE! PLEASE GOD MAKE FRIDAY GET HERE FASTER!!!!!!

 

Considering that they showed the suitless Vader, which they really didn't need to do for this movie, I don't know why they couldn't have gone the extra mile and gotten Hayden for it. But hey, it is what it is.

 

Really good movie.

I wonder if this encourages (and i wonder if I want) the more realistic tone in Star Wars. You won't see Han chasing 20 troopers down a corridor in this movie.

The magical 5 minutes was a total gift to expanded universe fans.

The CGI faces, can't decide on first viewing.

The only negatives were the plot was a little murky, I still don't get why the fleet was there. And there were too many good characters, you want all the back stories.

Negatives:

The soundtrack is awful
The characters are barely developed - You need to read catalyst to do Galen justice
Lyra was poorly portrayed - they seeming injected her into the movie just to die. I mean leaving jyn like that was stupid
The title screen is a Maclunkey joke. It does look like someone made it in an intro visual effects class
Saw Gerrera - Bordering on Eddie Redmaynes Jupiter Ascending level over overacting


Pros

1. The battle of Scarif is AWESOME
2. Killing all the rebels, no stupid retconning - AWESOME!
3. K2S0 steals the show, he's the only character i actually felt a connection to.
4. VADER! OMG!
5. Tarkin CG - WOW, impressive, most impressive.
6. Coherent story.
7. New Worlds
8 Fun Call backs and easter eggs

 

I think that we need to let the new soundtrack sink in a bit.

 

Let me simply say this, Vader has some seriously pschological issues. The guy needs anger management.

 

i'm surprised they made him so agile with the sabre considering episode IV

 

Just came back from my first viewing. Good, satisfying movie movie, but not great. Gotta stick with what Stuckmann/Harloff said, if you follow these guys.
My biggest complaints are the soundtrack (go figure... done in 4 weeks, and I would have love to have heard Desplats take) and the characterizations... franky, I didnt't feel much when they died, maybe beside Jyn & Cassians final scene, which was touching.

Would have expected Vader to show up on the beach, but his scene was great. Absolutely satisfying.
Besides that... Did not really get the praise for K2SO, which i'll blame on the dubbing, his comedy didn't really pop at all, gotta see it in english.

I did wonder however how people without much knowledge of the universe or those who haven't read Catalyst would hold up with the movie. It does brush over a lot and especially in the first act doesn't give you a lot of time to take it all in.

All complaints aside, this movie makes you instantly want to watch Episode 4 the second it ends. Tarkin and Leia are well integrated, the action is great, and I loved the expansion of the lore. The performances are great, though I thought Mendelsohn was a tad bit underused. Felicity Jones is the best part for me, she really sells every scene shes in, though I did not really except that.

Can't wait to see it a second time and discuss it with people. I do however wonder how the general perception is going to be like. I personally prefer TFA over this because the characters were more engaging, but this gave people the new 3rd, "fresh" act they wanted... really curious how this is going to turn out with fans.

 

Yeah I agree with @Mhelders if you're a fan of deeper characters, you have to read catalyst before seeing it.

 

The movie felt different but I liked it. It wasn't perfect. I would rate it 8/10 (for now).

PROS:
- stunning visuals (especially Tarkin)
- nice battles
- K2SO
- VADER (boy, that Vader scene - EPIC)
- new ideas

NEGATIVES
- Rogue One title screen
- sometimes too hectic
- I didn't care about most of the characters

NEUTRAL
- score

Did we see Vader's Castle? Maybe we will see it again in EPVIII. I was right.
