I'm glad somebody else felt the same way about the U-wing. An in progress shot for for sure, though. Everything other ship looked spot on.

 

I don't know why but these two shots are my favourite in the whole trailer:

That TIE-Fighter is so menacing.

 

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but the Star Destroyer hanging out by the Death Star looks kinda plasticky to me. Then I wondered if it was white rather than grey. Is Krennic's Star Destroyer white to match his threads?

Best two shots for me too. I hope that they will explore the ancient buildings of Yavin IV in this movie. I have been last year in the middle of that jungle and it looks fantastic, the piramids rising above the trees is something to see.

 

The original ISDs were all white. Ask Hija, he's walking Star Wars history

Yes, the quality of the U-Wing looked like something from a SyFy show, but they still have time to fix it.

When I saw the teaser back in April, I thought they were going back to using models like they did in '77 because the Star Destroyers look so real. My mind was blown when they revealed it was CGI

 

I don't want to sound negative but is it just me or does SW seem to be drifting in a VERY different direction than the previous movies? Were are all aliens that make up the SW universe? TFA had a few but Rogue One seems to have even less. While I do think the movie will be good, I kind of find it very different from the wonderful movies created by George Lucas.

 

Plenty of time for more CG work. If you watched the jurassic world trailers in order of release, you could see the progression of the dinowhale.

I didn't know the ships were cg, pretty cool. We are quickly approaching an era with seamless cgi.

I think it is just the marketing. Did you see the BTS trailer? Monkey gunner is amazing! I know for a fact that there is another alien on the team but won't say more if you want to remain spoil free.

In the video, you can see the collar rotating in an odd way

 

I think that's some new alien species, whose head is likely sunk into his chest.

He also has very ape-like proportions on his arms.

Totally agree with you. Visually the movie looks OK but I just can't look at these new movies and see them as the same SW I have always loved. When I argued about this regarding TFA, people defended this by saying that we were in another part of the galaxy and whatnot and that I couldn't expect to see the same aliens everywhere in the galaxy yet now that RO is here and that the movie is EXACTLY during the timeline made by Lucas's movies, were did all the familiar aliens that made Lucas's universe go? Where are all the Rodians, Twi'Leks, Niktos, Quarren and Ithorians? Why did Disney erase all alien life that was created by Lucas and it insists on giving us just a few new aliens that they created when the SW galaxy was just filled with aliens of all kinds many of which could be seen over and over again both in the OT and the PT? As I have said before, these movies look like action sci fi movies with just a few SW elements in them and nothing more. They are filled with eye candy, nostalgia feed and cool looking visual effects but that does not make a true SW movie and that's sad. Maybe I'm going to be the onlyone to say this and the negative quotes will just pour in but I was really pummped about RO and I hadn't let the fact that I didn't like TFA cloud my reason regarding this new movie but after seeing this trailer I have to say that I was left heartbroken and sad. Shame on me for being one of the people that was happy when Lucas sold SW to Disney.

 

Guys correct me if I'm wrong but is the Death Star flying upside down? What gives?
