Seeing as how we most likely won’t see any more “: A Star Wars Story” films in the theater anytime soon, it seems that Rogue One and Solo will be the stand-alone stand-alone movies! My question is: which one do you like better?

    upload_2020-3-19_12-22-51.jpeg

I’m personally a Solo man myself. I enjoyed Rogue One, but Solo was a fun romp that had heart and all the makings of a good summer blockbuster. (Unfortunately, it was a very loaded summer...) It had solid acting, especially with Alden Ehrenreich’s portrayal of Han Solo, as well as funny humor, a great soundtrack, and enjoyable action sequences. What more can you want from Star Wars?

I hope to see some follow-ups to this film on Disney+.

    upload_2020-3-19_12-31-38.jpeg

That’s just my two cents; which spin-off movie did you like better?

I love them both. Prefer both of them over the ST as well.

But right now I find myself wanting to watch Solo more than RO. I suppose because it’s newer and not as depressing an ending as RO:p

Also Tobias Beckett and Qira intrigue me more than any of the new characters introduced in RO. I love the Ersos and Cassian and Krennic, but I’ve always enjoyed the scoundrels of the GFFA.

    'Rogue One', easily.

'Solo' was just a checklist. It didn't really add anything to Han's character, it actually demystifies his character. R1 one the other hand upgraded ANH, at least story wise.
Furthermore R1 is more beautiful than 'Solo'. 'Solo' has this ugly and dark filter.

Yep, Solo is my least favorite Star Wars movie ever.

    I prefer Rogue One.
Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover are great actors but they didn't seem quite realistic to play Han Solo and Lando Calrissian. Moreover, in Rogue One we have pretty much all new characters with some exceptions at the end of the movie. And I like when there are new characters.

Rogue One. Cool concept for the movie. Wasn’t the greatest, but imo better than Solo.

Although the casting in Solo was good, I honestly feel as if it could have been better. Donald Glover as Lando? Yeah it kind of worked but all I could think about when seeing the movie was the rapper who made “This is America”. It didn’t immerse me in the story. A good movie makes you feel like you’re actually there. And Harrison Ford? Nobody can be a better Han Solo than that guy. He IS Han Solo. But this movie required a young actor and I think they did alright with it.

Ford is Ford. Alden is Alden. And Solo is Solo.

I'm not talking in a literal sense here. What I mean is that he's played the role so well that when I see Ford on screen I see Solo and only Solo. When I see Alden on screen, all I see is Alden--or at least Alden trying to be Solo.

Interesting. when I see Ford, I see Ford. When I see Alden, I see Solo. To be honest I am not much of a Ford fan so I guess that impacts my perception. I thought Alden did a masterful job considering the extreme vitriol thrown his way before the movie even came out.....

    Rogue One by a parsec!

It had a solid plot, real emotion, believable characters, and one hell of a finale.

Solo had stoopid plot holes, no emotion after the gate scene on Corellia, and really lame characters.

Rogue One is probably my very favorite Star Wars movie, Solo is probably my very least favorite.

Right off the bat I'll take RO, because it's more OT-esque to me than Solo, and while I love Solo also, it didn't leave me with the same feeling that I believe I would've gotten if Ford had somehow played the part. Not knocking Alden in any way but it just didn't "Feel" like Solo, but rather a "take-off stand-alone" SW movie that happened to showcase the Falcon.

Definitely Rogue One. While Solo was a fun little adventure, it was also very poorly written and felt very rushed and slapped together. I cared about all the characters in R1 and felt sad when they died, but I don't even remember the names of Beckett's Crew because they were killed of so quickly and were very shallow. I also didn't care about Han & Qi'ra all that much since we know Han doesn't end up with her; I also thought Han himself was incredibly miscast.

Yep, Solo was a little too dark. Rogue One is the most beautiful Star Wars movie, just so visually stunning.

To cast a vote in this would simply TEAR ME APART!!! I CANNOT AND WILL NOT!!!!

I love them both and cannot decide....

A Star Wars fan divided against himself cannot stand....[Abraham Lincoln did NOT say this....]

According the phrasing of your poll "Which one is better," I think Rogue One might be the better production... But I voted according to what I liked more, and that is SOLO.
If it hadn't be rushed because of all the drama behind the scenes, I think it would have been the best Star Wars flick of Disney's era so far. But, it's still my favorite, warts and all.

This is really hard I love them both & I had a great time watching them both in the cinema but for very different reason R1 was only once at my local independent cinema but it was the first film I got to see after a very difficult 8 months & the fact it was a SW film just added to its specialness. Where as for SOLO I just had a absolutely blast watching it.
But if I really had to choose it would be SOLO but only just.
