Who is making this argument? This keeps coming up like this is happening. It's not happening in these forums. No one from Lucasfilm made this argument.

"sexist, bigot, racists hate it" that argument comes a lot. It's as if I would say "idiots like it" Did I say that only idiots like it? No (otherwise I might be an idiot) but it might be easily implied. I didn't even say "all idiots like it" but it might be implied.
Of course the person reading it should be careful what he/she/* reads into it. But especially when talking about things others care about a lot, one needs to be aware and be extra careful. IMHO

"A lot" is simply a matter of perception. It's not an answer to my question. I don't see anyone in this forum characterizing people who simply dislike a film in that manner. Yet, I see this claim that this is happening "a lot" over and over.

There's no doubt some sexist bigots who hate the film (they pretty much hate everything) and there's things in this trilogy for them to hate. "Everyone who dislikes it is a bigot" simply isn't a common argument in this forum. You might find it trolling around Twitter, but you can find anything on Twitter.

I might still take a swing at it via a buddy of mine with better gear.
But I have a lot on my plate already between working at a netlabel, just finishing my own album, and trying to get an astrophysics catalog database project running.
It might be a while before I can actually afford the time.

But if I ever do it; it'll be dropped here for certain. :)

    Cheers,
    Jayson

Really I only see critical people being called things like "sexist","racist",etc. when you use well "sexist","racist" terms including SJW.

I'm not saying we're using that names but we're not living in a vacuum (only Leia can do this). Saying a certain group of people has an issue with certain movies should not be a problem here. But we all read about starwars elsewhere to. And things like this may trigger bad feelings for some fellow cantinas by now. We should just be aware of it and extra careful especially in a thread where we have pretty firm opinions.

I always seemed odd to me that people dislike the undermining of the scale of the negative reaction by people highlighting the falsifacation or manipulation of the RT score because they feel they (genuine negative responders and false ones) are all being lumped in together and therefore ALL negative criticisim is being dismissed. Not only because I believe it's not true that anyone wants to dismiss the validity of all negative responses, but because protestsing any perceived shrinkage of that negative score effectively lumps all the negative respones together. It's like some folk don't want the perceived validity of their negative views tainted by the acknowledged manipulation of RT but they do also want the numbers to hold up. You can't really hold on to their numbers while distancing yourselves from the people massaging them.

I would say yes, but it has become a term to say to others some things very different. Trying to tell others with similar mindset that this person isn't worthy paying attention to since they thing lessor people are equals. Taking a term and morphed it into a derogatory term.

The implication is akin to "The boy who cried wolf."
The derogatory evolved from three things: 1) a want of dismissal, 2) SJWs who were overly dramatic or drumming things up in very antagonistic manners hardly better than those whom they countered, and 3) the odd pattern of human behavior that occurs in some people where they show up for every "foul" called and jump right in, regardless of context, at full antagonist level - often employing a near index of fallacious arguments; most commonly ad hominem, no true scotsman, false dichotomies, hasty generalizations, cherry picking, and false dilemmas (either with us or against us).

In short; not really better behaved than the bigots, but since these types of folks show up at any context regardless if they are involved, included, or party to the topic, they seem even more like a type of "ambulance chaser".
Pakistan one day, pro choice another, Edward Snowden article comment section another, socio-economic equality topic the next, Amazon warehouse worker's rights the next...etc... and always aggressive and extreme; often causing people on the same side to get a bit embarrased and whish they'd shut up a bit.

This isn't to say fighting for the minority and equality is bad, nor that not being party to the suffering is required to have a voice.
It is, however, unfortunately true that there are some people who are just addicted to sociopolitical conflict in rather aggressive defense of the underdogs.

In the era of Facebook, this spreads fast.
I have old friends whom I have had to unfollow because my feed was just getting flooded by their posting of every possible injustice in the world.

Equally unfortunately, the bigots can use this as dismissal fuel for anyone who isn't on their side; basically claiming that all on the opposing side don't have a real investment and are just chasing sociopolitical melodrama wherever it is found.

    It sucks.

    Cheers,
    Jayson
