Although it hasn't been officially announced, everyone knows a Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel is coming from EA and Respawn Entertainment. It's a non-secret, especially if we take into account how it overperformed and made current, multiplayer-focused EA realize there's a quite profitable market for triple-A single-player games out there. As a result, the publisher has greenlit a number of massive projects which aren't packing multiplayer components at all.

VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb, the reporter and scooper who accurately disclosed that Quantic Dream's Star Wars project was titled Eclipse ahead of its debut trailer, has commented the Fallen Order sequel will be unveiled before EA's E3 2022 showcase. He dropped the (unconfirmed) news here (only available to Premium subs right now), during episode 28 of his GrubbSnax video podcast.

Moreover, Grubb said the game could hit shelves before the end of 2022, but that's being optimistic if we consider the current difficulties the video game industry is going through due to COVID-19, plus how shaky these productions are most of the time. Still, a late 2022 release isn't far-fetched; Respawn delivered the first Star Wars Jedi exactly three years after Titanfall 2 (2016) launched, and they even had enough time and manpower to also put out Apex Legends, one of the hit online multiplayer games of 2019. We could see EA and Lucasfilm Games gunning for a pre-Christmas 2022 launch, but let's keep our expectations in check.

As for the announcement, it makes sense to debut the game during the upcoming Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, which is happening in late May, and maybe reveal the first piece of gameplay at EA Play 2022. This strategy has worked out well in the past. Always in motion is the future, but expect to see Cal Kestis make his return sooner than later.

If you haven't checked out Fallen Order yet, Amazon's Prime Gaming (available to all Prime subscribers) is currently giving out the hit Star Wars adventure for free. The offer is limited to PC players though.
