Rumor: New Details Emerge on Ivanna Sakhnos Character in the Ahsoka Series

A few weeks after Deadline reported that Ukrainian actress Ivanna Sakhno had been cast in the upcoming Ahsoka series, we may have more details on her character now. According to The Illuminerdi, the actress will be playing Astrid, a 'striking and ferocious' mercenary who must now choose between two paths -- she can either 'follow the path of her unit or take hold of her own aspiration in service of her own glory.' It is unknown for now in which way she will encounter Ahsoka and whether or not she will be on her side.



For now, a big cloud of mystery is surrounding the show, though it is starting to scatter as weeks go by. Besides Sakhno's casting, we also know that Natasha Liu Bordizzo will appear in the show as the Star Wars Rebels character Sabine Wren. In addition, Hayden Christensen is set to reprise the role of Anakin Skywalker once again (presumably as a Force ghost, though that hasn't been confirmed either). Plot details are being kept behind Lucasfilm's thick walls, but the story is rumored to feature other characters from Star Wars Rebels, in particular, Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn.



Ahsoka Tano first appeared in live-action form, played by Rosario Dawson, in the Mandalorian episode The Jedi, which served as a backdoor pilot for her own spin-off series -- at the end of the episode, when confronting Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto), she asked about Thrawn's whereabouts. In canon, that possibly happened before the epilogue of the Rebels series finale which saw Ahsoka teaming up with Sabine Wren to look for their lost friend Ezra. The Ahsoka series will presumably pick up after that.



Ahsoka will begin production in March 2022, right after The Mandalorian Season 3 wraps production. We'll keep you posted as more news regarding the show come to light.
