it seems less likely to be fake as more and more trades roll out confirmations

This is a cool idea, but they would either have to throw in live action Ezra and Thrawn, or take Ahsoka in yet another new direction without really addressing existing questions.

I would be totally cool with live action Ezra and Thrawn, but somehow this seems rather unlikely to me.

Why? They weren't together at the end of Rebels

I think it more likely that they are overlapping stories. What i mean is that Sabine and Ashoka take part in a couple episodes of Mandalorian, perhaps Mando finds something to help them locate Ezra. Then they depart mandalorian, maybe to reappear later in season 3 or something, and Sabine and Ashoka take off and the rebels sequel starts from their departure from Mandalorian.

But she was searching for them, so their storylines were connected. They could just create a separate new storyline for Ahsoka, but then they would still have to use yet another project to resolve the Rebels cliffhanger.

I doubt Ahsoka and Sabine's search for Ezra is going to last for 5+ years, so whatever her involvement in The Mandalorian S2 ends up being, it's more than likely going to be unconnected to that plotline.

Having to cast Ezra would be a bit much, it would feel almost like Rebels is back.

They will not cast Ezra. They will simply help each other out and go on their seperate ways. I'm not sure 5 years is too much, after all they are looking for one person, in an unknown region of space, with no maps and no idea where they actually went.

Yeah, but if this happens onscreen they will have to cast Ezra, don't they?

It won't happen in the mandalorian, it would happen in a second show a rebels sequel which has also been rumored, this would be in cartoon, that's my guess.

Ahsoka’ s presence does not automatically mean Ezra is coming back, as I highly doubt her white Gandalf get-up is related to finding Ezra Bridger. It seems she is a wanderer, with a far greater purpose than audiences initially suspected. We just don’t know.

I do find it odd that Disney is cautious to “test the waters” by bringing this character to live action, especially when fans (such as myself) have been demanding it for years. Forget Cassian Andor, THIS is the Disney+ show we want to see. By inserting her into Mandalorian, I fear will only suck the air out of that show, distracting audiences of the main event between Din and the child. This is exactly what happened with Rebels. Every time Ahsoka appeared, audiences went wild “OMG! It’s Ahsoka Tano” and cared less about the crew of the Ghost.

The more I think about this the more I dont like it at this time. I want the story of Sabine and Ashoka post ROTJ to be told. Unless this is a flashback of some sorts then having Ashoka just show up without the story post ROTJ being told isnt good to me. It also eliminates any stakes in that story when it is told. We will know Ashoka survives and likely the fates of Sabine, Ezra and Thrawn.

Considering The Mandalorian takes place pretty close to RotJ, it'll probably crossover with the Ahsoka & Sabine story somehow. I'm betting it'll be a cameo/backdoor pilot for possible Ahsoka/Sabine series set after season 2; sorta like The Punisher in Daredevil before he got his own show. Who knows, at some point they might also announce that Sabine has been cast.

Yes, the end of Rebels the show takes place post ROTJ, so the timelines for Mandalorian and a Ashoka/Sabine show are identical. The glory of Sabine specifically on the Mandalorian is they could use the same voice actor. All they really have to do is keep her with her helmet on and cast an actor to player part physically. We don't need to see Ezra, or Thrawn as they likely will not be found right away. I mean Ezra could be anywhere literally.

Ashoka pushes along the story line involving finding Yoda's species home planet
Sabine pushes along the storyline of the dark saber and perhaps gives the Mandalorian himself a greater purpose. They move the story along and then vanish to their own show.

My understanding is epilogue of Rebels is immediately after ROTJ and Mandalorian is 5 years. So you have about 5 years of Sabine and Ashoka searching for Ezra. So it seems like this would give part of story away.

The epilogue doesn't actually state how much time has passed, so its left vague. It could be right after, it could be a few years after. Either way, finding one dude in vastness of space without any clue where he went to, is going to take a lot of time. This is not finding your buddy at the mall.

Would Ahsoka need to become a Jedi at some point in order to talk to Rey?

I think the obvious reason for introducing Ahsoka is that she would be protecting force sensitives from the all the evil forces in the galaxy.

In this regard, Ahsoka and Mando's paths would have to cross.

This also lends itself to Ahsoka not stealing the show and just adding to Mando's lore.

    I love this news!
    • Firstly I love Rosario Dawson, her character in Clerks 2 warmed her to me and i've had a soft spot for her ever since.
    • Love Ahsoka Tano, and i'm delighted were getting connected tissue between live action and animated.
    • Mostly though it means we get lightsabers and more force users in season 2! That's why I love star wars. Space Wizardry!
