was OK but still sounded a bit off (also not to nitpick but its kinda puzzling they can get james earl jones billy dee Williams and frank oz (who didn't even do clone wars in the case of the last) but not ian mcdamid) i mean it was passable I just felt it could've been better

I think he sounds lot better than in Force Unleashed. Rewatching the old trilogy recently, he is not McDiarmid, but he is close to spot on.

The problem with Sam Witwer's Emperor is that he overacts. This also happened in TFU. While his voice is inherently quite good, Sam gives a few too many little embellishments for my liking and that tends to make things sound "off", in my opinion. Still, better than Tim Curry. He really does have moments where it sounds scarily spot-on, but then these little things pop up in the voice that sort of unravel it, for me at least.

The fact Sam can play Maul, the Son & now Palpatine shows how useful he can be when a character he has previous played can make a return like that.

I completely agree with this. It's the acting that throws it off.

I think Sam Witwer did a good job, but I wish they had used Ian McDiarmid.

Maybe Ian wasn't available, still Sam was a good stand in.
