    To take it further, it's the same sort of piano-y stuff at the beginning as the VF video, and I wondered then if THAT was new music for the film.

    They said Rey's character was written independent of race (like Finn) so Rey is not a solo or Skywalker

    Yeah, that looks like the cockpit. It *acts* like the turret. Not sure what to make of that motion.

    I think they are rotating the cockpit to get the lighting inside the cockpit right. It's like in the OT, except there they would have the lights rotate around the cockpit, and that would look like it's the cockpit that is rotating.

    They're probably only taking footage from the inside. It'll look more realistic when they're flying and maneuvering the ship. They did the same thing with Jake Lloyd for the podracer scenes in TPM.

    Well, that's what gets me. Why would the cockpit rotate? That's not how that ship works.

    I don't think they're doing it for the lighting, but for believable motion from Daisy. Maybe the Falcon is out of control at some point?

    Edit - Totally obvious it's the cockpit now that I've watched it for the 50th time. It probably just looks like the movement is wilder in this footage than it will on-screen.

    Yeah plus they get realistic body motion from Daisy rather than her "acting" like she's doing barrel rolls, etc.
