Both the trailer and the article are very intriguing!

I have a feeling a lot of what we see here is probably from the next few episodes, though - just like the initial season 2 trailer was mostly about the two Rex episodes. It looks like most of this is centered around whatever episode(s) deal with the Sith temple, and even the Ahsoka and Vader shot could be a vision seen there (with another confrontation at the end of the season). Then there are a few shots to go with the one-off episodes of Sabine, Zeb, and Hera's backstories (Mandalorians, Lasats, and Cham).

My point being, hopefully they still saved out stuff that is going to be in the last parts of the season.

I'm of two minds about Maul - I, like many, thought he was killed off too early in TPM, but have never loved them brining him back the way they did - it always felt pandering and I mostly did not care for his storyline in TCW, which made it worse. That said, I did LOVE the final showdown with Maul and Sidious in TCW, which ended with Sidious saying he would not kill him because he had "other" plans for him. Hopefully, Maul's storyline in Rebels will be the continuation of that, instead of Maul doing his own thing. I would love seeing him more than just a brute as well.

 

That plot point from Season 5 of TCW was addressed in the "Son of Dathomir" comic mini-series, which was developed from scripts for what would have been episodes from Season 6...

To sum up, Maul is imprisoned on the planet Stygeon Prime, where Sidious intends to use him as bait to lure out Mother Talzin and destroy her. Maul escapes captivity with the help of Mandalorians that are still loyal to him, who had followed Sidious there. Maul & Talzin capture Dooku & Greivous, with the intent of luring Sidious into a trap so that can exact their revenge. Instead, they play into Sidious' hands and Talzin dies saving Maul, who flees with his "Shadow Collective" effectively broken and no longer seen as any sort of threat.

What will be interesting to see, for me at least, is what Maul has been up to since then, and why Sidious or Vader haven't bothered hunting him down as they did any Jedi survivors, Maul still being alive goes against the notion of Bane's Rule of Two, that there can only be 2 Sith at any given time, the master and the apprentice.

 

Yeah...that's what I thought by in not seeing them .

Also what do you guys think Ezra will do with the lightsaber? Will he take it?

 

He's saying, "call me...old master..." Or something slog those lines .

 

Yes! I love that line. Implication that new canon will cannibalise the old EU. Also, I noticed in the trailer, when Maul turns around and we hear the line "Call me old master", his lips don't actually move, so it might not be him speaking.

 

So much to take in from that trailer! Wish we didn't have to wait to see all the episodes.

Also I know it's been mentioned that the third Inquisitor is an alien but here's a screenshot that shows the feet pretty clearly. I was wondering when the Kylo concept was going to show up after reading they'd used it for Rebels.

 

Did Kylo Ren have weird feet like that ?
