R2 is the first thing that jumps to mind. But Tin Can could also be a reference to a communications device of some sort. Like a Tin Can phone.

That's an interesting idea. I searched "tin can" in the online dictionary and this is what it came up with:
    tin can
    noun
    1. a tinplate or aluminum container for preserving food, especially an empty one.
      • Nautical slang
        a destroyer or a submarine.

So perhaps it refers to a secret warship/space ship?

    Millennium Falcon!
Makes sense, right? "Tin can" with a history of diverse ownership, from the Senate in 19BBY, to Lando, to Han..
How did it get to Han?

EDIT: Could also be a movie along the lines of the old Han Solo Adventures. Loved those books. Star's End and all that.. A movie like that (if made different enough from Indiana Jones) could be great! Kessel Run? Meeting Chewie? Other early adventures? Maybe, maybe not. Potential in the idea at least.

Ew. Along those lines what about a movie that shows what happened to the crew of the downed Star Destroyer on Jakku?

My first thought is that "tin can" could refer to Boba Fett, especially since the short list of Anthology films has always contained a Fett flick.

I actually prefer the idea of a movie about a starship and its crew too. Master and Commander in the GFFA!

I'd support a Boba Fett flick ONLY if he never once takes off his mask (boba fett) a la Dredd

And Master and Commander is an underrated gem

It sure is. The book series is fantastic. I can't recommend it highly enough.

(And I agree 100% about Fett leaving his "tin can" on for the entire movie.)

I love Master and Commander. Wish it could have gotten a sequel.

It would make a great concept for a Star Wars film!

Nautical slang: a destroyer or a submarine

    Ships with crews:
    Millennium Falcon
    Star Destroyer
    The Ghost (Rebels)
    Tantive IV

I think the likeliness of each of decreases downward, meaning the Millennium Falcon is the most likely choice.

There have been rumors for a long time of this movie being a young Han Solo movie (even rumors of young Lando). I think it's difficult to replace Lando and almost impossible to replace Han. But perhaps these rumors were misinterpreted and this movie personifies the Millennium Falcon as a character. Furthermore, we see its life history including its original owner and the story of its crew. While it was sort of intended as an Easter egg, we know the falcon was owned by somebody before Lando. Also this story makes for an interesting Star Wars movie because Lando and Han are considered "scoundrels", so maybe the original owners of the ship were of the same class. Furthermore, the first Anthology film involves the rebels and the empire. While we know there is supposed "grey area", "Tin can" could involve a bunch of smugglers and bounty hunters. It could be the 1313 video game we never got.

I will say this though, it seems that the Lando comics will involve him stealing, "one of the galaxy’s most valuable ships." But we'll see where this goes.

There's also this new rumor of the Vicar (Max von Sydow) being an Imperial Admiral. So maybe it's a younger Vicar and it's the battle of Jakku from his perspective.

I would be cool to see a film based on the Imperials and following them around rather than the "good guys" for a change.

My short list of ideas based off the code name.
    1. A younger Han and Lando movie dealing with the Falcon and how Lando acquired it originally. Moving on to Lando and Han adventures and eventually Han winning it over. Chewbacca is somehow involved in all this as well. Mainly two different protagonists throughout the film.
    2. A Star Destroyer crew film. Ensemble piece. Plenty of space action. I'd have it set between IV and V. Maybe even V and VI you gotta wonder what the Imperials are up to (besides building Death Star II) in between TESB and ROTJ. A lot of potential there as well.
    3. Something to do with Boba Fett. Granted, he can also be used in my number 1 and 2 rather easily as well.
    4. Darkhorse idea: R2-D2 and C-3P0 project or droid related in general.

After the success of Marvel's GotG, I can see it being about the origins of the Falcon / the Falcon & it's crew on swashbuckling adventures across the Galaxy. I would love that movie!

I'm not sure if the 2nd anthology would be about Fett if Tranks was involved. Seems as if they are keeping the anthology movies based around OT to ST. We could see a Han Solo and Leia movie about the aftermath and showing them getting married maybe and in the end showing Fett alive leading into the next anthology about Fett. I would like to see Joe Johnston direct a Fett movie since he was part of bringing Fett alive in ESB.
