Not a fan of Rey so far. Would prefer Finn as the Main Hero

I wouldn't say disappointing as much as...cringe inducing: the ninja trooper. Not a big deal. It doesn't ruin the movie or anything but it is just so cheesy looking(in the context of the TV spots anyway). I suppose if that trooper is an old rival of Finn's or something it may come off better. Just something about it bothers me

This: Edit: Can't link the IGN video interview with JJ.
Apparently Leia is not a jedi, she just made the decission not to embrace her potential, what a stupid decision and disservice to the EU fans.

A much talked about observation, but I have found what I am seen so far very derivative, from the rehashed elements of New Hope, to the reuse of unused OT concepts designs, to some lifting from the EU and the almost slavish OT aesthetic. It's the only thing that's bothered me throughout as it feels like paint by numbers, play it safe Star Wars that is designed to appeal to the OT nostalgia fans who very much want to see a SW that feels like the OT and giving them what they think they want.

I'll probably enjoy it come what may, but in the pit of my stomach I have a feeling that this movie won't be as bold and daring as Empire and Jedi were, or even the prequels. I guess we shall see. I hope to be proved wrong.

Well, personally I don't think they should cater to the EU fans and their wishes because, at the end of the day, the decision has been made to move away from it and there is little we can do about it. With a clean slate there is little excuse for not using the freedom in a way that the makers of the film feel is artistically warranted. It's the very point of what I said above about being too slavish.

Personally I think it's actually quite good that Leia isn't a Jedi. We've never really seen someone strong with the force who decides their own path rather than the immediate assumption they must become Jedi or Sith. I quite like the idea as it in essence means that Leia is actually fulfilling her destiny as a hero of the Rebellion.
