I know it’s an old game but is it worth my time?

I mean, I can't speak to your interests, but I think it's a lot of fun.

I hated the swoop race and the sewers. Those were the two levels I didn't enjoy.

I think it's fun. I played that game several times as a kid and was one of the first N64 games that I owned when my parents bought the N64 for my older brother and I. If you really want a challenge, try unlocking the cheat/debug menu. Those button combinations is pretty brutal. Also, If I remember correctly, if you beat the game on the hardest difficulty, it gives you an alternate ending compare to the other difficulty levels.

Think I may have mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I also really disliked the sewers. It was so drab, and the level seemed to last forever. The water mechanics were garbage, too.

I loved the swoop race, though! It took me forever to get a handle on the controls, but it gets to be a lot of fun once you get it under control.

I played this for too many hours to count (same with the SNES movie series). Boba Fett and IG-88 were brutal. Hoth was, of course, amazing. Also loved the final space battle sequence. Mind blowing stuff for the time.

For those interested, Star Wars Explained is doing an interesting Lore Play, where you see some gameplay while also getting some interesting lore tidbits throughout.

I would've liked more gameplay and longer videos, but they're still a fun weekly video series.

I loved that game so much growing up, I played the Hoth mission so much that I finally learned that you didn't have to tow cable the AT-AT's, you could just shoot them in the neck for massive damage.

I can't remember the name of the mission, but the one where you take down the AT-ST and then Boba Fett with the Slave I is one of my favorite missions.

The secret ending to the Skyhook Battle was interesting too.

I played Shadows of the Empire until the cartridge got bronzesque. I delighted in bkasting stormtroopers off cliff, and hearing their Wilhelm screams, does that make me a bad person? :p

Nah, that game was ahead of its time for sound design.

I distinctly remember being terrified the first time I heard a wampa roar, and how each of the guns sounded different.

My 16 year old has it. When he plays that console, it's that, Goldeneye, or whatever Mario he likes. He has about 20 cartridges and brings them to a game club he's in at school and the kids nerd out on the older stuff. I suppose because it's novel. He has that xwing game for it as well. I've been meaning to check it out, but I just never got around to it.

Rogue Squadron?? I played the heck out of that as a kid, and tried replaying it a couple years ago -- that game is HARD.

Also, I think I used to be better at video games than I am now.
    :p

Anyone remember trying to attempt the cheat code that gives you the debug menu? That combination of buttons was nearly impossible to do.

I remember my mouth dropping at the graphics of that game in an issue of Nintendo Power. One of the first games to use the expansion pack.

Same here! The Wampas freaked me out! I remeber teasing one in the medical bay on Hoth, and it suddenly turned and assailed me with its claws.

There was also a Rock Wampa (Brown/Tan) on that level where the path is in a canyon and the footpath is narrow, and an abyss is always to your right or left.

Yes! I loved the idea of Wampas evolving on other planets.

It was cool how in Echo Base they were intimidating because of the claustrophobic hallways, but on Gall it was because of those narrow cliffs you mentioned. Really brilliant use of game design to create variety while making minimal changes to assets.

What I loved about Shadows is its based on a EU book of the same name. I wish more Legends books were adapted in the video game medium. Especially anything by Timothy Zhan. :)

My apologies, I did not see your reply. I too love the idea of Wampas adapting to their environment. I revollect a Chewbacca comic where Chewie battled a Wampa on Kashyyyk.

I remember the terror I felt when the Wampa chased me on narrow cliffs. It took me by suprise, a Wampa not on Hoth. :D

    That's the one.
    --- Double Post Merged, May 29, 2019, Original Post Date: May 29, 2019 ---
It was a multimedia event. There was a comic of the book and one or two other things. George Lucas even said it was his favorites of the books. Makes me sideeye a bit with the weird near date rape scene, but sure George. And more Boushh for me to use as avatars.

I never read the novelization. Just played the Video Game, dashing about as Dash Rendar.

Ugh, I really didn't like the novel.

It had its good parts, but it treated Luke very strangely, and downright did Leia dirty.
