I'd request an official change of name.
It's way too similar to Smee from Peter Pan.

I think it'd be a neat little easter egg addition. But wouldn't her tombstone likely read "Shmi Lars"?

Theoretically, yes...and I cannot believe this old thread got resurrected, but now that it's alive....

I think that we should see Rey visit the old homestead (of her father :) ) and see her great-grandmothers grave [sprints out of room before rocks are thrown].

    But seriously! :)

I see you're holding out hope for Luke to be revealed as Rey's father, huh?
Either way, It'd be cool to see the Homestead once before the Sequels end

I'm not too interested in any more edited changes in the Special Editions. I prefer my SW untouched.

It could be a nice change to add in another Special Edition.

I think we've seen enough unnecessary edits to the original series.

Perhaps her grave market might factor in to the "mind melting" ending we're told to expect in IX.

Luke had plenty of time to investigate his families past. He should know a lot about Pademe and Anakin. No way empire could expunge all records of that time nor really any reason for them to do so.

I like the idea of adding the tombstones. BUT...... I have a counter offer: For every good thing they add, like this tombstone idea, they have to correct a bad one, like Greedo shooting or Jabba or whatever.

My dream scenario is that once all 9 saga films are out (i.e. next year!) LFL/Disney would make a super-boxed set including the "current" version of the films (if there can even be said to exist a "current" version, lol), a theatrical version of each film (for reference and purist satisfaction), and at least one "final edition" version of all films, with possible reinserted deleted scenes, possible new/tweaked scenes to answer inconsistencies and whatnot, and to just give a more concerted effort/overall completist take on the Skywalker Saga for us crazy fans who cannot get enough. In such "final edition" versions of the films, I would love to see Shmi's gravestone inserted into ANH scenes, and much more beside. And yes, I know, greatly extending SW films doesn't make them better from the perspective of pacing, or even plain storytelling, but I (and I imagine most fans?) would love to have just MORE of the SW movies we love. +20-30 minutes to each film, please :p

In short, I don't mind special editions at all. Actually I favor them, as long as the execution is good (i.e. someone need to go back and redo the OT special edition CGI).

Definitely. After watching TPM, I respect Shmi very much. She sacrificed for a son who she didn’t really have, as Anakin was literally conceived by the force. She raised him and loved him while both were slaves living unfair lives. Then, letting Anakin go so he could fulfill his destiny and live his life was amazing on her part.

So did Rey bury the lightsabers in Shmi's grave?

“I carried him, I gave birth, I raised him.”

    She definitely HAD him.

I appreciate your sentiment though. It’s pretty clear from their little interactions in TPM, that the pure and loving side of Anakin, the side that defeats his darkness, came from her. Too bad the character doesn’t tend to get a lot of focus or recognition.

The Jawa sandcrawler literally parked on top of the area of Shmi's burial site when Owen Lars and Luke were buying C-3PO, R5-D4 and R2-D2 from the Jawas.

And no, I don't want yet another altered revision of this film to include a minor nitpicky detail of a minor character who had not even been conceived in George Lucas's imagination when the film was written, filmed and released in the 1970s.

It's not really on top. It would be just our of frame. But I agree there's no need to add it.

Honestly, it's a good idea. I would like it even though it would cause some controversy. I wonder if Lucas knew she exited when creating the OT. I honestly dont know how much of the PT he thought of while making the OT.

Disney honestly cannot be hated more and a lot of people would like it. It may make me cry. Lowkey want her to speak to luke or leia. Well, I want Padme to meet leia, but thats a different story...

Yeah, I think he was created by the force to bring balance. But how did Shmi react? Did she have any visions or thoughts? Jesus and Mary vibes lowkey
