Should Disney erase PT from canon?

Leave the Skywalker saga alone. Start a new series within a trilogy set in that galaxy far far away .... with fresh characters... I mean you can't go wrong with the old Republic Era. I'm still waiting for it. There is so much potential if done right. Plz plz plz.... it can also help rejuvenate the Star Wars name.

Wouldn't exactly call them spinoffs....not when you can have more than one trilogy set in different time periods of that Era.

I consider spinoffs for example that Han solo film...which I don't think we need.

 

From what LFL has sai, that kind of a movie will count only if it has to do with the skywalkers so maybe something where the movie is set within the KOR era and a skywalker has the same lightsaber design as Ben's
.

 

What they could also try to do is somehow intertwine the two different sagas....you can have a Skywalker show up in TOR Era but only have that character be second fiddle to characters like Revan, Bastila, carson...etc and moving forward Satele shan, Lana beniko, Theron shan, Darth Marr, Darth malgus, Senya and her 3 kids then you've got valkorian who's the sith emperor....then other characters like vette, Kira Carson, blizz the Jawa....also have alien creatures be more central to the story. That be nice.

It's too late for that the viewing years of 1999-2005 cannot be erased but lessons have been learned.

Wow, this thread really has some legs. I'm glad to see that most of the posters continue to see the folly in erasing the PT, whether they like it or not. The only time we will see the PT erased or rebooted is when the entire Saga receives the reboot treatment(which will thankfully be many years from now).

Franchises can have bad/ok movies and still fit them into their continuity, the Star Wars PT is the best example of that. To erase them would be to naively think (as some people seem to) that every Star Wars movie disney will make will be the best thing known to man. I love Rogue One and TFA but it is possible for Disney to screw up on a future Star Wars project. So no it would be incredibly stupid to erase them from the already foggy concept that is "canon".

 

What do you mean? What lessons?

 

Limit characters like Jar Jar, strictly there for bad comic relief.
Create good scripts with deliverable lines.
Have a system of checks and balances, keeping one person from having all say.
Make it aesthetically more similar to the known Star Wars world.

 

- yeah the lines werent the best but there were in-universe reasons for that.

- GL had all the say because no one ever questioned him.

- the PT was purposelly not like how we "Saw" SW because the point was for it to show the peak of the republic in terms of tech, government, and the jedi
