SPECULATION Should Disney leak out the Big 3's screentime?

No.

The old actors like the new should be utilized as the story demands not based on opinions of whether or not they are done proper homage. If Luke is the McGuffin and as such doesn't show up much till the end but Han leads the goose chase. That sounds like sacrilege I know but the old cast needs to be needed by the story for the movie to be more than just one more sequel.

 

Let's wait until we have seen the first full trailer and the synopsis. i think we might know a bit more about the story of the movie.

 

I'm going to say yes, if their screen time is as limited as Luke's is rumored to be. If I'm in charge of marketing the film, I would want audiences to understand that Luke won't appear much before they enter the theater. I wouldn't want their disappointment with his involvement to be the key thing they took away from the movie.

I know Luke's been left out of the trailers so far, but Hamill has been heavily involved in promoting the film. For many, much of the the new film's allure will be the prospect of seeing the old heroes again. With Hamill doing all this press, audiences will naturally assume he will be a significant part of TFW. Having him only appear in the last scene will likely leave people thinking, "That's it?" unless they know what to expect ahead of time.

After all, it's not like his appearance will be a big surprise when they are using his return to sell the movie.

 

Off course not I want to be surprised.

 

If MSW is right on luke's screen-time, i have a really strong suspicion that trailer 1 is going to invoke a "search for skywalker" vibe from both the light (rey/leia with the lightsabre etc) and the dark (kylo/Snoke - kylo wanting the sabre) just to start prepping fans for his shadowy background or even missing character.

With han, i think we are already getting a sense he is important, teaser 2 implies he is at least looking for the falcon and because both our heroes are on it, that also implies something about his screen presence.

With leia, again trailer 1 will probably highlight her military role and thus giving us a sense she is only somewhat-critical to Rey/finns journey but the background battle will be more important.

I think that creates a distinct "pecking order" for TFA for "screen time"

3 Luke

in the next trailer, you can "show off" this movie's gorgeous cinematography and get away with it without spoiling or showing anything that could make you understand the plot. everyone is amazed by the bts footage. less is more.

 

I dont want them to tell us.. Besides, when the rumor about Luke's screen time came out it also said that he would have an larger part i EP8. Besides, it is all just rumors with no official source to back it up.. so lets just see what the first Full Trailer will bring us before we start judging..

 

Could not have said it better myself. Absolutely perfectly said. If Abrams goes through all this hype, has Hamill and the cast get into the great shape they're in,and then only has Luke in there as a cameo (and he doesn't even use his green lightsaber at least twice), and the original cast never interact with each other at all in it, there will be no more bigger middle finger to fans who have been waiting all these years.

I hope Luke doesn't just have a small cameo....that to me is insanity, but it looks like MSW is right with everything so far, as unfortunate as that is.

 

I want to be surprised. All those plot leaks are obviously not official so the only confirmation we can get is the movie itself cause I think that the full trailer won't reveal much about Luke's screen time.

The part of the text that I maximized is what makes most sense, (and BTW good post @Luke's beard) then Luke in Ep8 would be like Yoda(as I presume),training a Jedi .

 

I agree. After seeing the admittedly great trailer of Batman v. Superman this weekend, I started to wonder what Warner Brothers is going to do to keep people interested in the movie for the next 8 months. The trailer might have been awesome, but I am not sure what more they can show us without spoiling the movie. I think it indeed might be better for our enjoyment if we would know less about either movie.

 

Maybe they will do single trailers for Batman,Lex, Wonder Woman etc.

I just hope the movie is as good as the trailer this time. The writing seemed a little iffy to me in it, but it looks better than Man Of Steel. It's been a while since we had a truly great DC movie. Hopefully this one doesn't disappoint.

 

I just say they should address a possible 'Search for Luke Skywalker' early enough, so that everyone knows that he is probably not very much into this movie.

 

I don't care about screen time numbers as much as I want one, just one scene with all 3 together again.

 

Disney is not going to leak the cast members' screen time, certainly not the 'Big 3'.

 

I don't think we will see a straight view of Luke until the movie. At most we will get an image like we did in teaser 2, a robed figure with obscured face. Or we might see a robed figure ignite a green lightsaber. But I am 109% sure that Luke and Snoke will be the characters most shrouded in mystery during the process

 

Don't worry I'm not trying to be, i've just seen it before in other movies.

I agree, I hope the time is unlimited, there is no way they would come back for only 5 minutes a piece.
