Or are they looked upon as the OT's Jar Jar?

It's not that they are the OT's Jar Jar (which isn't exactly fair since some people do like the Ewoks), it's just that they have nothing to add in any other stories and wouldn't make sense being randomly seen outside of Endor. And there really isn't any reason to return to Endor.
It seems unlikely we'll ever see those killer teddy bears on film outside of Return of the Jedi. Well, not counting those TV movies in the 80s, but it's just like that business on Cato Neimoidia: it doesn't, doesn't count.

Maybe have one or two seen in the background in a market or something. Beyond that, no. keep them on Endor.

    Nature's Nurture

Ewoks are great, and they're as important as Chewbacca's or Jar Jar Binks' species.

Ewoks are also unique in that they highlight a very special 'primal nature' theme running through the Star Wars universe.

The American horror film series Friday the 13th presents a hockey-mask wearing monster named Jason who stalks campers in a forest by a fictional place called Crystal Lake. Jason is not a 'forest-dweller,' but he haunts the forest nevertheless, and the popularity of this horror film franchise suggests that we're interested in spinning demi-god characters into forest-friendly 'dwellers.' The American comic book superhero Green Arrow (DC Comics), for example, was a man named Oliver Queen who honed his archery skills while stranded in nature. The American horror film character Leatherface wields the iconic forestry tool the chainsaw as a symbol of imagination.

I mean, if you think about the *art theory* behind the design of the Ewoks (as presented in particular in Return of the Jedi, when the Ewoks mistake C-3PO and R2-D2 for gods), you realize that a great deal of comics-art (and also comics-adapted horror cinema characters) celebrates 'environmental labor' strokes reflected in Lucas's Ewok presentation.

If you take the Ewoks out of the Star Wars equation in any way, you're really missing out on key storytelling paychecks.

Unless we get back to Endor, it is pointless.

A story involving an Ewok assassin was pitched for The Clone Wars. Naturally, Lucas and co. rejected it :D.

I remember loving the old Ewoks TV Movies....they should just re-canoize those. Well...they are on film, so...CANON!

or according to Return of the Jedi logic, Kylo Ren's elite knights are cut down by technologically destitute Ewoks and some plucky Resistance fighters with hearts of gold!

While @Abishai100 makes a really interesting argument, I wouldn't surprised if the widespread criticism about how the tiny primitive Ewoks annihilate an elite Imperial Legion causes Abrams and Co. to neglect them.

idk, the lakota crushed an american cavalry regiment at little bighorn using similarly antiquated weapons. same with the zulu against the british. terrible leadership can do a lot to equalize any battle, no matter the advantage they may have. so for me at least its not that big a stretch for the ewoks on their home field and with a numerical advantage to defeat an over confident foe.

But in kylo's case he has the force so he won't have to worry about them. ;)

Have you watched it with attention to detail? The Ewoks are savage guerrilla fighters. They beat Stormtroopers to death with sticks and stones, and it isn't viewed as violent because they're teddy bears, lol :).

True, leadership is a factor, but I'd still say the Imperials should have armour advantages that make it impossible for the Ewoks to inflict damage upon them. Like, two logs swinging into an AT-ST and smashing through it? Clubs and rocks knocking over stormtroopers? Totally I can see them getting bogged down in Ewok's, but being killed by them seems a bit of a stretch.

But yes Kylo's force powers would turn the battle into "bowl the Ewoks" :p (which would look hilarious)

:p but that's exactly it, making a sentient teddy bear blugeon grown men to death doesn't change the fact that its adorable ball of cuddlyness and floof :p It's just a little hard to take seriously :p

yeah, that part is a bit dicey, as is to when the ewoks set up the traps in the first place. but in terms of the troopers' armor, i think we've seen enough cases of how rubbish and truly useless it is.;)

ewoks stay on endor. I did like this one comic series where a battle of endor vet described them with poison arrows and being evil devilish teddy bears.

Kamino cloners' attempt to clone Eworks backfired and inadvertently created wookies.
