SPECULATION Should Lucas have put Count Dooku in all three movies?

Was this character an after-thought following The Phantom Menace? Because it makes no sense to make his defection a plot point if we've never seen him as a jedi before. That was a missed opportunity to add depth to the saga.

I've always felt Dooku should have been in all three films. For example he could have been in on the jedi council, or maybe Qui Gon could have met with him when they landed on coruscant, discussed Anakin's force sensitivity with him etc.. this is one of many things which led to a disconnect between episode I and II in my opinion.

    What do you think?

I've had the exact same thoughts before. Dooku should have greeted Qui-Gon when they arrived on Coruscant, and advised him to present Anakin to the Council (maybe setting up that they'd be unlikely to believe he is the chosen one). And he should have been on the Council, too.

When they deleted the Lost Twenty scene from AOTC, it seemed they forgot that the character wasn't really set up at all. When he appeared later, it was just like... "Who is this guy? He wants Obi-Wan to do what?"

I agree Dooku should have appeared from TPM onwards.

I'm agreed that Dooku needed more of a witnessed backstory instead of a few mentions of it. His demise should've come in ROTS after the Emperor gave new life Vader, then had Vader kill him with a Force Choke.

Yes that would been a good scene Sidious making Anakin his new apprentice Dooku realised his mistake he tries to stop order 66 & the attack on the jedi temple but Sidious kills him with force lightning instead of Mace receiving it.

I have a totally different take. No Dooku at all. Maul was a much cooler character and was wasted. He should have survived TPM and died in AOTC. ROTS should have started with Palpatine's seduction of Anakin as his new apprentice.

His name shouldn't have been Dooku. It sounds like what Jar Jar Binks would call poop.

I think a great twist at the end of TPM. In the final scene we see Darth Sidious take of his hood and reveal...

    Count Dooku

There is several directions to take this. I like the idea that Dooku and Pap are rivals rather allies. The Clone Wars is simply a manipulative back and forth between two rivals. Anakin, the Jedi, the Republic are all pawns between these two. Palpatine gains the advantage when he recruits Anakin to be his apprentice and agent.

I agree, Dooku should have been in all 3 movies. In episode one it would show him part of the jedi council showing his light side quality, but devotion to the senate and Senator Palpatine. And later in the movie, a scene showing Dooku setting off on a mission then becoming AWOL thus leaving the jedi order. :)

No Dooku at all. Maul and Grevious. That would've been epic.

Dooku served his purpose, another Pawn in Palpatine' scheme.

    Two was enough

My problem with Dooku was Christopher Lee.

I know Christopher Lee can act. I don't know why he didn't. He completely phoned it in. Didn't even try.

The one unforgivable sin for a Sith is to be unremarkable. Count Dooku was unremarkable. When Darth Vader walked into a room, he was the focus of everyone's attention. When Darth Maul showed up, someone was going to loose a limb. When Palpatine grinned, you knew all hope was lost. But when Count Dooku arrived, my interest in the scene departed.

Think about how you felt watching the first teaser when Kylo Ren ignited Sithcalibur. Remember the chills? Now compare that with how you felt when Count Dooku ignited his lightsaber. There's just nothing there.

The character could have been great with the right actor. Lawrence Fishbourne would have been perfect. Physically intimidating and intellectually formidable. Yeah, I could have watched him outwit the Jedi for all three movies.

I like Dooku. The idea behind him is cool. A man that spent his whole life dedicated to the Jedi then all the sudden is gone. He was Qui Gon's master another awesome character detail that could have been expanded on. Instead we get a guy that shows up at the end of one movie and is killed before the next one even gets going. So yes Dooku should have been in all three movies just to fulfill some of that potential his character on paper has.

Dooku first should have appeared in TPM in a few scenes with Qui Gon talking about their doubts over the Jedi order.
I would have Dooku meeting young Ani and realising his potential.
Qui Gon still dies from Maul but I would have Maul survive until the end of AOTC and be killed by Dooku as revenge for killing Qui Gon (having Dooku already lost to the Dark Side by then).
Dooku and Palps in AOTC/ROTS would be dark side rivals trying to turn Ani to the Dark Side and against the loser of the outcome.
Dooku then gets killed by Suit Vader after Palps wins the manipulation war.

Hope all of that made sense.
But in all seriousness. Georgie boy stuffed up.
Dooku had to be in TPM to make it all work.

I'd have both Dooku and Maul in all three films. I'd either have one of them not be a Sith or I wouldn't have any Rule of Two.
