The question I am posing is this: Should "Star Wars Episode I: Racer" get an HD remake?

Many of us played this classic game on N64 or PC. It was grueling, frequently challenging and causing rage moments, and giving us some of our greatest racing celebrations much like Anakin did in Episode I. It was a classic that really made us enjoy something good that ran well, still stayed true to what was shown in the movie, and also very original. Many of us had played racing games, but going sideways through small gaps, crashing through rocks, and using a repair function while racing without having to go to a pit were all things that made this game interesting, always changing, and totally fun.

Could we still remake this, add some more features to it, make it HD, and still make it true to the original film?

For those of you who ever got an Xbox 360, you may have podraced on the more recent "Star Wars: Kinect" game. It was beautifully remade, took use of the camera on the Kinect, and made you feel like you were in control of a real podracer. Sadly, this was not the only feature of the game and podracing was more like a small part of the total game including *barf* a Star Wars "Just Dance" ripoff. But let's not talk about that and look at the podracing features:

They did a beautiful job creating maps and bringing back the feel of the original, but it lacked one thing that we are capable of now: Better Graphics. Today's consoles and PCs can run graphics even better and further than what we could ever do 3 or 4 years ago. Current gen consoles such as the Xbox One and PS4 are running Star Wars: Battlefront at around 55-60fps at all times, but PC is running the highest level graphics. If we could get a remake of this wonderful game from the 1990s, would you like to see it, when would you like to see it happen, and why?

Leave your comments and thoughts below! In the meantime, May the Force be with you

I don't think it'd be worth it, honestly. It was a tie-in game to a film that most fans consider to be the worst piece of entertainment ever spouted out by humans (even though I'm exaggerating). Even though the game was good, making a remake would be like McDonalds remaking the Lion King Happy Meal toys. It just doesn't make sense from a marketing standpoint.

I'm all for a new podracing game. We could race on Jakku. Some of the apps that show Jakku make me, among others, want to play a podracing game set there. I find that people talk about this game positively.

I've dug up this game recently to finish "that one level" I couldn't 18 years ago. I did, it was great fun and the GOG version works smoothly. But I felt like the game was too easy. Either because it is or because I knew what I was doing.
