I don't think it's really necessary, to be honest, but I am disappointed that a few of the deleted scenes from the prequels were omitted, especially in Revenge of the Sith. I would've loved to see them add in the meetings between the senators (although I understand George cutting them so that the story could focus more on Anakin and his plunge into the dark side) and the scene where Yoda arrives on Dagobah.

Like others have said, though, I highly doubt Disney wants to go anywhere near the prequels for a while, and at most, we wouldn't get anything added to the original six films, but an Anthology film set during that timeline. I don't think it's really worth it to go back and change everything when so many people didn't respond well to the prequels the first time around.

Never really wanted a special edition of the prequels, but wasn't there whisperings somewhere of The Phantom Menace originally being 6 hours long? I would love to see some more of that deleted content, somehow.

I would be down for a version with updated CGI. With maximum faithfulness and no other changes or added scenes. It probably won't happen, though, because that would be too expensive. But who knows, maybe at some point in the future such re-releases will become a thing.

I think that if they re-made all the cgi we would have a movie with the same visuals as TFA , TLJ or R1

I would actually be delighted to see this. The CGI was good by 1999 standards, revolutionary, in fact.
But just imagine for a second if they went back and changed it with 2021-level tech...

    Wow.

To those saying we need to redo the CGI of the prequels I ask you: when do we stop? In another 20 years the CGI we consider great now will look like absolute crap, so what... we re-release it again with improved VFX? What a waste of money. Keep it as a product of its time.

    I don't think so.

Even for just a graphical update, I would say no. I've become weirdly attached to the super polished/almost cartoonish look of a lot of the the CGI in TPM/AOTC. I don't want them to change that.

They have to at least add a musical number somewhere and obstruct some views with animals.
