I actually have no idea what I think here. I'd prefer it if we didn't see Palpatine wield one though.

Yeah, it was cool to see yoda with a saber.
The prequals really get too much hate, like really.

I actually enjoyed seeing Yoda with a saber. And how he had his own unique style to how he fought. It was one of the highlights of that trilogy. I don't understand why some would want to not see him use one? As if it goes against his principles or something? In order to be a master of your craft, you must understand all of its aspects. Sidious knew this. But as in real life it applies to master a craft is to at least be knowledgeable in all areas of that craft or art. As I have seen many time before about Yoda just using the force in battle, he actually did. Not the whole time, but he did have short force battles with both Dooku and Sidious. So there was a little bit of everything done by Yoda.

This single scene negates the entire PT. Medichlorox and cartoon yodas doing flips. BAH. A jedi craves not these things. See also: Materialistic, childish, anti-climatic.

    Ps. First post (epic fail)

One, small thing that always bothered me about the PT was the shape of the lightsabers - especially in RotS. Almost all the lightsabers in the PT have a very pointed end (much more sword like) whereas in the OT the ends are much more rounded.

    Anyone else ever notice that?

Yoda would not be a jedi if he did not participate lightsaber duels. I thought he was great.

Iā€™m fine with Yoda using a lightsaber but I understand the views against it.

I think i've always been in the minority but i've always loved seeing Yoda fight with a lightsaber. Few things have put a smile on my face as much as the first time I saw Attack of the Clones and Yoda pulled out a lightsaber!

It still gives me that wide eyed big kid feel when ever I see it, which for me is what Star Wars has always been about.

It was fine to me but I would have been okay with him just using the force. Interesting either way!

I always thought that seeing Yoda (and Palpatine) with saber made them less powerful and the scenes in AOTC and ROTS looked silly.

Glad that in TLJ and TROS they eturned more similar that what we saw in the OT.

I liked it. Yoda is amazing and can do anything.

I think the OT hinted at the possibility of Yoda being a fighter when Luke said ā€œIā€™m looking for a great warrior.ā€

    It didn't need to happen.
I don't mind it happening but I would rather it didn't.

I actually don't see any problem with Yoda using a lightsaber or doing crazy flips and stunts. It helps to back up the idea that the jedi were just like the sith in the sense that both parties went straight to violence in a time of conflict. Also, it made for some pretty great scenes as long as we remember that the only reason we care so much about this saga is because of the cinematic thrill we got from watching it for the first time. Yoda doing flips certainly counts as cinematic thrill!

I am a simple man. I love Yoda and I love his fighting style. During the fight between him and the Count, he fought fast and jumpy. I love him, but his power of the force is still amazing and the way he uses it through his saber is also quite interesting.

Yes after all we were seeing the jedi fight in their prime the only problem is why did Yoda need a cane when he is so fit and can jump around? I think it would have tied everything together nicely if Yoda needed the cane in Empire and Jedi because he fell when fighting Palpatine.

Because when he fights he draws off of the force. He didnt fall when fighting Big Poppa Palps they was a super tiny and dense droid that hit him. The droid was on its way to upload the new TPS cover sheets that are now required by the Empire.
