I personally would like to see Anakin counsel Luke about the ways of the Force and the inevitable "Don't fall into the trap of the Dark Side" conversation...or something like that.

I'm not having the personal debate about the actor, because there are so many "Hayden haters" that will focus on the actor, and to me it's irrelevant as the story is the most important thing.

Would you like to see it, and in what manner?

I would like to see him as force ghost.
He surely has some useful information about empire, sith and dark side in general.

Its basically been established that HC would be returning to TGFFA after Lucas replaced Shaw w/ him at the end of ROTJ.

Considering Anakin was created by the force... it wouldn't be that far fetch than he do more than just appearing as a force ghost.

I think it would help to unify the PT and the OT all the more if Anakin communicated with Luke as a force Ghost. I think it could be a very beautiful and surreal thing to see a young looking Anakin giving his son, now an old man words of wisdom. What would be even more interesting is luke getting angry with force ghost Anakin for whatever reason. Maybe for Luke struggling with his possible conflict with the darkside and blaming his father for passing it on to him. I can see him having these moments of anger followed by moments of love for his father. Blowing hot and cold with Anakin in his hermit's cave giving the impression of madness. It could prove to make very dramatic, fascinating and moving scenes in the ST.

I also wonder if force ghosts can choose who they reveal themselves to. This could also make the scenes amusing if at some point Luke is in the presence of say Finn, Rey and Poe Dameron and he is talking to Anakin whom they can't see. He comes over to them as a bit mad, talking to someone who to them isn' there.

Hmm, a lot of people seem theorize that ghost Anakin would appear to Luke or another hero, but I've been thinking that it makes more sense for him to appear to Kylo Ren. After watching the last trailer, I can't imagine Anakin existing in some after-life and seeing Kylo Ren talking to his old armor and not make an appearance.

I think they'll need to either have some ghosts appear or at least explain why they can't. I'm starting to think we'll probably get a line from Luke in Episode VIII saying, "I haven't spoke to Obi-Wan in 20 years," or something like that. Just sort of a throwaway line to quickly explain why the ghosts will not appear.

It's quite possible that anakin will appear to kylo ren. I have a little theory about Kylo ren and his obsession with Vader. I think someone probably Snoke has told him lies about Vader. Especially about how he died. I bet he doesn't know about his sacrifice/redemption and he probably thinks Luke killed him. I think it will reflect how myth can take on a life of it's own, ie it can become a religion - the Knights of Ren. If Kylo Ren really is a skywalker maybe he like finn was taken away as a child by the first order, trained and brainwashed. When he finally finds out his true identity and heritage and the truth of Vader's redemption/sacrifice it might destroy him. The pain of realising he is not who he thought he was and that he has been worshipping not an evil God but a flawed human being, the truth of it might be too much to bear. This all pure speculation and probably isn't how it will be in the movie. It's only that bit in the trailer when Rey asks han I've heard stories and he says they are all true. I get the feeling truth and lies might be one of themes running through the film.

I like this thinking a lot. I think it would setup an epic moment where Kylo attempts to reach into the Force to build perspective, and is confronted by Anakin (force ghost). Almost another "I am your father moment" that completely changes the way he thinks about the world, and leads to a redemption for his past deeds.

Please, no Force ghosts at all. The characters should have it within themselves to proceed with no further couseling or advice from supernatural ghosts - listen to the will of the Force instead.

For Ben's ghost to appear alongside Yoda in ESB at a crucial decision making moment was okay for me, but to have Ben's ghost re-appear in ROJ to deliver this "from a certain point of view" speech was disappointing. Frankly, I had wished for Sir Alec Guinness to revolt (like Harrison Ford) and to have those lines changed.

There is too much danger from a story-telling point of view that the protagonists find themselves in a similar predicament as the protagonists in Matrix Reloaded:

Merovingian: Oh yes, it is true. The Keymaker, of course. But this is not a reason, this is not a why; the Keymaker himself, his very nature, is a means, not an end, and so to look for him is to be looking for a means to do...what?
Neo: You know the answer to that question.
Merovingian: But do you? You think you do, but you do not. You are here because you were sent here, you were told to come here and then you obeyed. [chuckles] It is of course the way of all things. You see, there is only one constant, one universal, it is the only real truth: causality. Action, reaction. Cause, effect.

In ROTS Yoda showed Obiwan the technique for contacting QGJ through the force, so force ghosts just appearing without meditation gets harder as the Jedi's force presence fades with time.

To be one with the force

I'm cool with it as long as it is well handled and makes sense within the story being told, that goes for any Force Ghosts. The fact that Rey heard Obi-Wan's voice in TFA makes me think that Force Ghosts will probably be making an appearance in this trilogy as well. If we get Obi-Wan then it would probably make sense to have Anakin as well at some point. Could lead to some powerful moments and help tie the saga together even more.
