Rebels series was enjoyable to watch especially the way it ended. I like how they kept to the formula we all love that the OT started. Hera as Han, Kanan as Obi-Wan, Ezra as Luke, Sabine as Leia/Fett, Zeb as Chewi and of course Chopper as R2. I'm not sure where this whole Ezra with strong force powers is going since he and Kanan are not around during A New Hope. What happen to this group, why not around with all there experience to help with the Death Star and if Luke was the last Jedi what happen to Kanan, Ezra and Ashoka. I hope and believe Filioni will do good job ending this series in a surprising way that could come into play in VII.

The answer is simple why the characters in Rebels are not around in "A New Hope, Episode 4". Because "A New Hope" was made some 38 years before that! Perhaps Lucas didn't think of "Rebels" at that time. Rebels is product of Disney that may have a different view of what Lucas had. The OT has its definite achievements that have shaped the modern film-making forever, besides the exiting characters of Luke, Lea,... But we are not going to repeat it 3 decades later, or are we. Luke and Lea participate in Episode 7 in their more senior age, and would have been expected to show maturity as characters, much bigger than their younger characters showed in OT.

How that all will fit together in the saga?

First of all, the saga must have a grand finale at Episode 9. Nothing short of the One who brings the balance in the Force cannot assure that. Not explosions of Death Stars or alike. The Finale must be positive and remembered "for generations to come".

We are before a new beginning, already prepared by season 1 of Rebels, and I expect it to materialize and surprise us on/around June 20. (Clone Wars couldn't do it instead, because Anakin was destined to turn into Dart Vader.)

How that will reflect in December 2015 Episode 7? First we have to pass the successful padawan exam in June before we think of the mastery trial in December! December 2015 is too far, and December 2017 is even farther. It is not given for granted the world 2015- 2017 will be as peaceful as we'd like it to be, and we will go to cinema excited to see the Grand Finale of Star Wars.

Instead, I suppose Star Wars Ongoing Episodes, the Rebels, are preparing us on the go, here and now. Therefore Ezra is more than the next character. Ezra is the message of the Force here and now to people young and old, who want to listen.

Ezra following the logic of Rebels, could easily advance very fast. He is not afraid to encounter psychological or morale trails. He could enter in the discovered by him temple (not by master Jedi) and he could find devices of ancient superior tech, holocrons, or even to encounter the spirit of passed away (Good!) Master. If he does so, he would get enormous strength, including technological at one moment. (he wanted to use the temple as a base). Hyperjump is jump in space and time. He could pop up in Episode 7 or 8 and make miracles of the Force. But even if not that, He would have given the new beginning of people like minded , me included. Sure I can say more, including of prophecy, but I definitely stop public release of what I know at this point. Star Wars already moves to its trajectory regardless of what I or anyone else writes in forum. Hope some of that trajectory is now known with Rebels. What to say more? Im remaining in the forum, but don't have so much time to play all the nice games with ratings. A miracle is expected and that miracle may well be coming in connection with the latest series of Star Wars, that are not future series, that are the series just released. No matter the time loops and sequels, that is what we have released last. If we reach December 2015, then Episode 7 will rule the game. Not yet though.

I don't see any reasonable responses of my posts, except for one man, therefore I stop my active participation in this forum. In my next log in, may be after weeks, I hope to discover substantial change of the view of Rebels and especially the role of Ezra that Disney promotes so amazingly strongly, and that frankly turned me back to Star Wars as a whole and may be a member of this forum. I am thankful to Disney for that, and I believe their ideas are set hi and will not stop here. One month more we will see...what? A new movie?

You don't know what you will see guys, and you already threw at me 2 negative scores and 23 positive, while most of the likes made by one only man. Thank you so much. I know why I am here and what to expect next. Do you?

Grand Master, I never thought of you sending negatives. I just said it is illogical for someone like me to spend several weekend days to post dozen of posts that say something substantial and different, no matter be it correct or not, or just my ideas, and as reward to have only one or several meaningful respondents, one of them being you, thank you! What are the other guys doing here, only trading likes for likes may be, to get their numbers huge? Instead of those red ratings they could post something substantial to say why they don't think so. If they think it at all. Isn't it just a lost time?

After re-watching the final episode of the Season 1, I just realized that was Ezra's only 2nd boarding of imperial destroyer, and 3rd on imperial large ship. He knew it perfectly as if he spent years onboard. Of course he was cadet for some time (how was he admitted). He shows skills much beyond his age or his education in the outer rim Lothal. Or even as Jedi trainee of Kanan. He is just more than that. Compared to that, the young Anakin was good in driving, and indeed succeeded to get out of the Trade federation ship before the explosion. But you see, we have the phenomenon of midichlorians, something it is not said of Ezra. Ezra is the image of the future Star Wars. Not the sons and daughter of Lea, or Luke.

I don't have patience to wait for June 20. It may determine what we will see in December Episode 7 as well.

For those people who look only after their own understanding of pre-set saga timeline, and do not accept other views, I don't have anything to say. I am not here for their ratings. Anyone to pay me for spending time here?

Well I guess the Force calls me to do that, as many of you guys, for reasons beyond current understanding. Because frankly why should we all be so much enthusiastic of a movie, if it is just a movie? There are hundreds of sci-fi good or not so good, that go in history forgotten after several years. Apparently, Star Wars is more than that. It is meant to be more than a movie. It is a message to younger generations and not only. It is a projection of near future (I hope) in a galaxy far away, or in a galaxy where we are at. Only in that way I can understand the unusual enthusiasm so many people give, for no one's award, for a movie that could be long history. I have the feeling, as Ezra had it in the temple, those characters are "alive" and speak to us more than the words they pronounce.

Let continue the topic that made me enter this forum and choose the name Esdras (variances).

I suggest, the new character of Ezra is introduced for purpose to change some ideas in Star Wars. Also to send a message to all who watch it, a message that repeats something from the previous serials, but also has some new meaning.

Otherwise, why should we have a new hero and not someone of the well known. For ex. why not to develop the life of young Lea, or any of the good pilots and generals that appear in OT Episodes 4,5,6. Any of them would have deserved our respect, being the men and women who made it possible to finally crush the core of the imperial might. It wasn't the duel of Luke and Vader only. It were entire fleets over there, with common people-heroes onboard, many of whom died in the space battles. All of that, not only Luke, makes the victory of the Good Side.

So my proposal is Ezra will bring a new message to the entire saga, that will be more visible on June 20 (although it is visible for me now). And that will have serious traces in Episode 7, regardless of whether Ezra will appear or not.

Sorry if I repeat some of the things, said in a new way, otherwise I cannot be consistent in each post that come in a different time, days or weeks later.

Also I hope for logical and substantial answers, if you think the opposite is true. After all, we are in a discussion forum that new ideas are being generated, not in a church to listen well established homilies and paradigms.

And here is even something more: Ezra Bridger is not meant only to bridge the OT with PT and Clone Wars. He is meant to bridge also the Star Wars galaxy with our world on earth. By making us more participants than observers. Because we can only observe the polarities of Luke and Vader (both having miraculous midichlorians therefore above anything we could do by ourselves). While many on earth, many more than we know, millions, share the uneasy childhood of Ezra. And at least would like to change it as he did. Perhaps more will be said in the next episodes. Because they are made for earthlings to watch and copy, not for Tatooine or Lothal citizens :)

Wow, are you ever going to be disappointed when Ezra is either killed or turned to the dark side! ;)

I appreciate all of your enthusiasm for the subject, but I respectfully disagree on the importance of Ezra Bridger. I doubt we will see him in the movies and I suspect his story will be neatly tied up at the end of Rebels. The reasoning is that it just goes against established canon that Luke was the last of the Jedi. Too much retconning for any of TPTB over new Star Wars content.

Also, I highly doubt that Ezra will be traveling through time to be a young(ish) hero during the ST time period. Throughout the PT and OT, people traveled at light speed or faster (hyper space), without any time travel associated with it. It is an aspect of Star Wars that is not scientifically accurate, but after all Star Wars is a space opera/fantasy.

Ezra as the perfect uber-good guy savior of everything is not very interesting to me. The reason why people relate to the characters in the Star Wars universe, both light side and dark is because they are like us. They are fallible and have good and bad qualities, or in other words, depth. Luke and Anakin are compelling characters for just this reason, and it is likely why Ezra has been shown with both light and dark qualities, too.

Finally, from a practical standpoint, the purpose of Rebels has been to introduce newer generations to the Star Wars universe through new characters they can relate to while also introducing them to established characters. The Rebels series has done just that and will continue to do so.

If Star Wars movie makers didn't want a new character, they wouldn't put Ezra. Ashoka was enough to make the bridge. You could have the story of Lea instead, who lives in the senator's family. BTW I wouldn't be surprised if one of Ghost's trips is to Alderaan or Naboo and the images of Luke and/or Lea appear as kids...

One thing besides everything else, Ashoka is a female. We have audience of both girls and boys, and have to assure a male character as a good hero, after Anakin moved to the dark side.

Ezra's appearance in the temple is definitely something new and encouraging. It is not a perfect design, I would have many things to add or remove, if being asked. The Temple could be explored endlessly. He could go there again and again. He could see future paths and choose between, as well as learning from past events not said until now in Star Wars.

About the time travel, it is one of the many possibilities, and I am glad you understand it from advance science point of view.

If Ezra dies, he will become immortal, although it is a big disappointment for the kids who don't want to be defeated, and who are not ready to sacrifice lives so easily.

If he turns to the dark side, I will reexamine the film-makers' definitions of the dark side, and their purpose to put someone on that track. Why should they make it twice, after spending decades to develop Anakin's character?

If you have Ezra present, and so convincingly, it is for reasons. Just a bridge? Well may be just a bridge. A bridge to what? Should we assume miracles to happen in Episode 7 that we weren't prepared for in the other serials/episodes, so we need additional short TV serial Rebels to make the way thru? For what bigger picture, that Star Wars will definitely seek for, not satisfied with the old great achievements? After all, we don't have repetition of old serials, we have something new coming our way.

I think Rebels serves the particular purpose I noted above and the time frame it is set in indicates its purpose as well. Namely to tell the story of the fledgling Rebellion leading up to stealing the Death Star plans referenced in ANH. I don't think the story for these characters, who were never seen in the OT, goes any further into that time period, and certainly not into the ST, which is 35 years further into the future.

So how do they tie it all up (killing or turning characters like Kanan and Ezra) in a show directed to kids? Mind you it is on Disney XD which is directed at older kids, so the topic of death is not off limits... but if nothing else, it will be inteeresting to see how they handle it.

It is the timeline of the saga what you describe.

However it is done on a different earth timeline, as you know, with Rebels being the last piece released, and the first piece when the owner is no more Lucas. We know they shifted further his ideas of Episode 7 as well.

2 weeks more and we will know more.

I am personally really enjoying Rebels at this point in time, and frankly I wouldn't be opposed to future appearances by either Kanaan or Ezra. However, when Yoda passes on in RotJ, he tells Luke that he is the last of the Jedi, and in Rebels we know that Yoda is aware of Kanaan and Ezra. Therefore, if Kanaan and Ezra are still alive by that point in the OT, there has to be some event that takes them off of Yoda's radar in some form or another. I'm not saying that this cannot be done with some clever writing, just that it has to be addressed(and no doubt would be with the Lucas Story Group coordinating things).

Frankly, even prior to RotJ there has to be an explanation as to why characters like Kanaan, Ezra and Ashoka are not around to play vital parts in the Rebellion, Jedi are kind of a big deal at this point in the Star Wars time stream after all and would no doubt be interested in meeting one another, Ashoka in particular would want to meet the son of Anakin Skywalker. With the Lucas Story Group in charge, I have no doubt that they have all of this planned out in advance, I am definitely interested to see where things go for all of these characters.

Well let not sound that I manage that thread, because it seems I am interested to answer more often. I just find that thread the closest to why I am here, and practically I have little interest of the rest of threads, where the discussion also takes some hits under the belt (red points).

All that you said is right. And if Lucas was still in charge he would surely do something like that. The problem is, the story of OT is written 40 y ago, and at times, however lovely, is a bit outdated. Not in terms of ships but in terms of interpersonal relations. Just imagine how long it took to Han and Lea for the first kiss. :) Romantics that today's couples could only envy.
With that in mind, Clone Wars and Rebels are much more dynamic with new characters.

The problem what we discuss here is actually a Time Loop. If one never dealt with closed time-like curves, as the scientists call it in their popular science abstracts, or sci-fi that covers it too, now one can visualize it. We have events already happened in the future, and we have to make the history in such a way as to justify the future. It is not good to live in a time loop and it costed much to young Anakin, not only to him but also to the entire galaxy.

Therefore, one of my proposals was to break the time loop by using better way of managing time flow. Not necessarily going to future or past by hyperspace jumps (that should be possible), rather managing the timelines of the story in a better way. So we don't have to have Ashoka, Ezra and probaby Kanan killed, only to justify a known future written by Lucas 40 years ago. He didn't even know those new characters to appear! They have the right to live. Moreover, we need them alive, and that's why the filmmakers put them on the scene. "A dead jedi is of no use for me" said grand moff Tarkin.

Yoda is not the absolute master. He himself had a story of being padawan, glimpsed at in Clone Wars when the younglings found their crystals. He had his teacher too. The history of Jedi order is equally interesting, as the future timelines. It would be good to be elaborated in the movies more. The temples could help more in doing that. They weren't used before, the way we saw on Lothal.

We need some upgrade to the original ideas of Lucas, and I am very glad to see the first more serious upgrade with Ezra/Kanan/Ashoka. Clone wars have future characters, as well as many evil characters of all sort that are of no such big interest, as presented by the author of Clone Wars who is not Lucas either. At times I could hardly follow the story, because of those ultra-evil entities. Compared, Palpatine and the clone troopers, if not saints, were the Good side many times. Clone Wars hit at some very serious controversies between the good and dark side, when you have in one episode a Jedi general (the one with 4 hands) to arrange killing between clone troopers, at the time of battles with droids, because he didn't like them. That's a treason towards the men who constantly sacrificed their lives for the republic! At that time the republic wasn't the evil empire, not yet. In that episode, may be for a first time showing a good-turned-to-evil Jedi general, apart of the main villains, he was killed at the end by the clone troopers who had to save their fellow men.

Perhaps the Clone Wars' far reaching ideas were to explain, on one hand, the dissolve of the old Jedi council that was inadequate and already influenced by the Dark side, not only thru Palpatine and Anakin (how about Sifu Dias creating clone army 10y ago, or how about the trial of Ashoka). Further, the Clone Wars continued the explanation for a failed galactic democratic senate to battle evils like corruption and trade federation, under the banner to save the galactic unity. Federationalists were given as not that bad, especially using the romance between Ashoka and...forgot the name of the guy, coming from Trade Federation allied planet.

The master plan of Palpatine couldn't be played out without supporters on all levels. That was glimpsed in Episodes 1,2,3 PT and developed in Clone Wars, involving many more star systems. That was something much newer compared to the OT in terms of ideas, new planets, not necessarily of exact chronology (that we don't know and are told of as the movies progress). Whether Yoda slipped a word of a second hope (Lea) and how Obi Wan didn't know of her, is anybody's guess, perhaps Kukas' too. Let not forget they are all men who are prone to error. and who cannot envision 30 years in the future how exactly their started saga will develop. OK Yoda may have said no more jedi, but he is not all knowing god or prophet, rather he is a humble servant and master Jedi. He never thought hi of himself either. I don't think he will like other attitude that respects him as sinless.

IDK, but repetition of 40y old scenario as the end of the TV serials done in 21st century seem to me not that interesting story. It cancels any novelty and upgrades made for all those years.

The time we are living in differs from 1970s-1990s. We are before other problems, I am not going to list them. One of them being the Aliens' topic in internet domain. Perhaps a changed vision is needed for the filmmakers of the most popular movie where human-ET (called simply humans) are living and working side by side with humanoid ET (called otherwise) and non humanoid ET in some cases. That development in earth's society to start talking about all that, at least at level of internet if still not at level of civil authorities, achieved for those ~40 years, cannot be ignored by the filmmakers. They tell us a story of a galaxy far away, but at the same time they make it on earth and for earthlings to be watched and to be shaping public opinion. They have to enlarge the story in order to be not just adequate, but to lead the public opinion especially that of the younger generation, in very crucial point of our own history on planet earth.
I guess I repeat something, sorry.

While I appreciate your views and find them interesting, we have to take the Lucas Story Group into account as well when considering where things will go. With the formation of the LSG we now have a unified canon going forward. At this point the canon is rather small, but the movies, both PT and OT are the bedrock of this canon going forward. Also, the LSG has to clear all continuity going forward, and that includes the Rebels television show. For insight from the LSG and their main representative Pablo Hidalgo I recommend watching the Rebel's Recon videos on the Star Wars youtube channel. Each episode ends with fans getting to ask Hidalgo about Star Wars continuity in the new canon, good stuff.

While I understand(but don't entirely agree with) some of your problems with the OT, it is still considered canon and all shows and other media set within the new Star Wars canon will have to adhere to the story set forth within the core Star Wars movies. While I am happy to see that continuity will be streamlined in this fashion going forward, I also realize that it may limit the creativity of Star Wars creators going forward, therefore, I hope we also get to have some non-continuity laden stories(perhaps new Legends material) going forward at some point, thus allowing writers to cut loose and really express some crazy ideas like some of the things we got to see in the old Expanded Universe now re-branded Legends.

I didn't know of Lucas story group and Canon, sorry. Well, the film is in the hands of its filmmakers, obviously, and Lucas is the first one of them. My deep respect to the person who made it all happen! I believe they can make a more dynamic timeline(s) without breaking their so set rules.

I also believe that they can make a more dynamic timeline within their own rules as well :). I am definitely open to the possibilities of Ezra and Kanaan surviving as well, they just need some good writing to justify their absence from the OT is all.
