I can't help but notice the similarities between that of both Ezra and Rey. I'm not saying the two are related, (I'm also not saying that it's not possible) but the similarities I found a tad interesting.

The two character's when first introduced are loners living on their respective home planets alone scavenging to get by. Both highly gifted with survival skills. The only difference being Ezra starting off selfish and Rey selfless.

Both characters are incredibly gifted in the force with a natural talent and ability which they use without knowing.

Ezra is also an escape artist in Rebels constantly getting captured and escaping his imprisonment on his own as Rey did while imprisoned by the First Order.

This is just something interesting I've noticed while watching the film and have been wondering if anyone else has as well.

The letters in their names are pretty much the same besides the A, Z, & Y .

Previous to the latest episode of Rebels ("The Protector of Concord Dawn"), I had a theory that Sabine and Ezra were Rey's parents. The theory hinged around the possibility that Sabine was the daughter of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Duchess Satine. Just for clarification, I have a lot of theories. I think about Star Wars way too much and come up with at least one crazy or stupid idea every day. There is not one particular theory or point of speculation about Rey that I hold onto. I'm open to any possibility that makes sense and isn't dumb or sloppy. So back to this theory, if Rey is the grandchild of Ben Kenobi and Satine, who would be her father? If Sabine is her mother, Ezra could make sense. The only problem is that the Duchess never once mentioned a child to Obi-Wan so it's not very likely that they are Sabine's parents. The final nail in the coffin for that idea was when we learned Sabine's family origin. It's not Clan Kryze, that's for sure.

But none of that negates Ezra being her father, and this is an idea that has been growing on me. There are a lot of similarities between Rey and Ezra. What makes this theory very intriguing is how Ezra is constantly being tempted by the Dark Side. If Ezra is indeed Rey's father, does this mean it will be the first time we see (in canon) a Dark Sider have a daughter who ends up becoming a Jedi? Furthermore, is Rey's presence on Jakku a result of Luke taking out Ezra? How is that going to affect their relationship if he trains her? "Oh, yeah, by the way, I had to kill your dad." And who's her mom?!

This quote from Kanan Jarrus sets up a potentially interesting parallel between Ezra and Rey (if we accept she is just coming into her first true awareness of the Force as of The Force Awakens and has not received any earlier training as a child):

If she is a true Force prodigy, this could present interesting tension and complications as Luke Skywalker, when training her, might prefer her to learn at a slower pace.

This could parallel Luke's own "recklessness" and rush to "readiness" before Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back, declaring himself "ready" (and asking Obi-Wan to affirm this) only to draw Yoda's stern response: "Ready, are you? What know you of ready?"

The premature surging of Force abilities in Rey could make her strong and yet vulnerable, if not overconfident and prone to underestimation, especially as she might believe, in beating Ben Solo the first time, she could do so again.

This is the second post I've read today that has mirrored my thoughts. Watching TFA tonight I wondered whether Ezra is Rey's father.

All the points above make good sense. His age would fit. His links to Luke would fit - perhaps in being a member of the new Jedi. I also think that Rey's folks must've been pursued when they left her on Jakku by the KOR (it had to be the only choice) thus one of her parents being a Jedi provides a reason for this. How she gets powerful so quickly could also tie in with this.

And then we have Del Toro in VIII....

Those are skywalker tropes which they used for Ezra. Ezra's story was made up before Arndt and Abrams wrote The Force Awakens. Hence the similarities ;)
