Way more excited. Before the trailer dropped, the could have been literally anything, and yes, it did add more space for speculation. However, in the end, each theory has a fraction of a percentage chance of happening. Now that the trailer is finally released, and we have an idea; albeit minor, of what is going to happen, the theories will get more and more accurate as one will build on the previous. This to me is very much more exciting.

it's not only that though. The trailer in itself is in my opinion astounding, and has given me much excitement not only in regards of the possibilities now, but also regarding what was in the trailer itself. The thing that has caught my attention the most is the rendition of the Binary Sunset theme. Those hints of darkness in the theme were enough to make it my favourite part of the trailer? Was it anything huge? No, but as a Sith fanatic, I found it to be an amazing piece of music, even though I heard around 5 seconds of it.

Overall, the trailer has added a lot to my excitement for the movie. the trailer was awesome, so far so good. My only concern at this point is whether the movie will carry over the social justice from The Force Awakens, a movie I enjoyed, even though it wasn't the best and did in fairness show itself to be a feminist movie.

I hope it goes all weird and freaky. Empire went all weird on Star Wars before "returning" to the familiar in ROTJ (see what I did there).

It's Star Wars so, yea I"ll be excited. I"ll be more excited the closer to Christmas we get and the more trailers come out. I'm more curious about Luke and Rey's relationship and backstory for both than I am for anything else.

I'm more excited. As time gets closer my excitement builds. It is a slow burn. I was not put off by the similarities of TFA to the OT like some and I definitely think it was it's own story and not a copy like some seem to think. That being said I am also not worried about TLJ being new and different from what we expect from SW.

It seems like Porgs are more capable and powerful than Ewoks.

The only picture we have is a "from memory" drawing from a cartoonist who draws very stylistically.

Well I'm less excited and more than a little bit concerned now that I know there is no set plan for the ST. I hope I'm wrong, we shall see.

Since viewing TFA 3 times within 24 hours starting with the midnight screening and feeling a massive sense of being underwhelmed by it (I prepurchased all the tickets), I'm not sure what to expect from TLJ. Once the teaser dropped, my feelings didn't change. I was way more excited for the TFA teaser, but the TLJ teaser just didn't excite me. And now we have had the Vanity Fair stuff with all new aliens (yet again - it appears humans are the only species to spread themselves throughout the GFFA). I like the ideas of the elite of society who were able to flourish unaffected by the Republic, then the Empire, and then the New Republic, but I just can't get that excited for it. I currently have a nonchalant, wait and see, sort of vibe going on.

Still, I live in hope it will blow me away and remedy my thoughts and feelings regarding TFA. One thing's for certain though, I will not be buying multiple tickets for multiple screenings as I did in December 2015 :p.

then Rogue One rocked up and i did it again.

it's what we do bro.. it's what we do ;)

I can't wait. The trailer was brilliant and I loved the Vanity Fair photos - extremely excited to see Canto Bight!

One thing that made me extremely excited to see TLJ was actually hearing Rian Johnson during TLJ panel at Celebration. I loved his personality and outlook on the saga... I trust him.

More or less the same. The Vanity Fair photos made me more excited than the teaser.
Although my excitement level will never reach "TFA level". In fact, I doubt I'll ever be that hyped for a movie in my life again.

I'm more excited, personally. Ever since the teaser, leaks, and VF pictures were released, it makes the story behind TLJ better. I just hope they execute the movie very well.

Star Wars = the Force = the Jedi. I can't imagine them tinkering with that equation.

However, Star Wars has always been a tale of good versus evil, and the prequels showed us that the Jedi weren't the selfless servants they believed themselves to be. You and I have argued about the Jedi's dogmatic approach to the Force already so I'll keep this short. Luke is a good person. He has a good heart. He refused to be the Emperor's enforcer. He refused to be the assassin Yoda trained him to be. He's risen above the kill-on-sight principle of both sides and instead Luke tries to find the good in people and calls on them to embrace it.

With that in mind it makes sense for Luke to believe the Jedi must end. But certainly not the Force, and most definitely not the struggle to overcome evil with good.

BTW, Pastor, I'm glad you've stuck around the Cantina. You and I each have strong opinions and we don't often agree, but you've always treated me with respect. I hope you feel I've treated you equally.

The OT had never had a set plan and it turned out pretty great, just like Toy Story or Indiana Jones trilogy and many others. Film-making is a creative process first and foremost and being a part of a major franchise is no justification to impose creative control over filmmakers.

    Thanks.

I enjoy things here even when disagreement comes up.

Now I think saying the Jedi had a "kill on sight" perspective is a touch strong.

Mace acted against the "Jedi way" attempting to kill subdued Palps. Anakin aknowledged killing the defenseless Dooku was not the "Jedi way." Obi-Wan tried to end the duel with Anakin "I have the high ground." Hoping that Anakin would relent.

I think calling him Yoda's assassin takes Yoda's hope he would defeat Vader and ignores the Jedi act only in defense.

There's going to be a sequel-era space battle including, one would assume, Poe. There's only one answer.

More excited. Can't wait. Although it's getting to that point where I think I'm starting to know too much so that means I'm gonna have to start staying away from upcoming leaks so I don't ruin the whole movie. Just out of curiosity, are there others who feel like this or is it just me?

I just feel at ease where SW is going for now, TFA isn't my favorite SW movie but the characters/acting was great, and R1 makes me believ they know how to write and direct good movies. I feel like I'll love TLJ if they make it not only different but really challenge the Star Wars status quo in terms of not only the Force but also doing there own thing buy making Star Wars movies with their own vision apart from George Lucas' beliefs. It's almost like if Star Trek didn't challenge Gene Rodenberrys vision in Star Trek TNG (though a little less extreme than that I know) for those of you who know what I'm talking about. I feel like they are going in a different direction than a strictly George Lucas focused vision. For Which I thank the Force!
