I feel sort of confused which can' be a good or exciting thing because I remember this just too well:

So Anakin now is no longer the Chosen One who brought balance to the Force?

He was the chosen one. He fulfilled the ancient prophecy of bringing balance to the Force. He destroyed the Sith (including himself).

Now we're pass all that and looking to the future. The Force is evolving now (Awakens) since Anakin fulfilled the prophecy.

There are darksiders (not Sith) like Snoke.

There are (if you take the new trailer at its word) new evolutions of the Force with Kylo and Rey.

Welcome to the SW world as Lucas has been contradicting the movies since ESB! ;) Pretty much everything Obiwan says in ANH is a lie by the end of ROTJ. Luke and Leia kiss really feeling creepy now in ESB once we find out.....their siblings! Leia said that her mom died while she was very young, yet in ROTS she checks out at childbirth. You are right about the Chosen One from the PT/OT, but again each movie has sort of contradicting the previous one so at this point I just go with it and it is what it is.

IMHO, there's is quite a difference in terms of authority between the creator of Star Wars (George Lucas) and a storywriting committee (Lucasfilm Story Group). I'm well aware of the premise changes done by George Lucas to make his story more interesting and have little to no problems with that, especially since he had not the faintest idea back in early 1977 that there ever would be a sequel.

Fast forward and we have a different situation. It increasingly looks to me that the LSG really has no vision how to progress the SW franchise. All they came up with first was a rehash of ANH, and now it looks as if the only thing that holds the new film together is a re-interpretation of the "Chosen One" definition, coming at the expense of what George Lucas established. That's just...lame.

I would have thought that after three film trilogies at the beginning of the 21st Century featuring "Chosen Ones" we'd be done with that and would be moving forward.

More, thankfully. I was massively unimpressed with the teaser and promotional materials prior the release for the full length trailer and I was worried it would be more like TFA. Thankfully, the trailer assuaged my concerns.

But I think the story goes much deeper then 'The Chosen' in this Trilogy and I think that's what a lot of fans who thought TFA was a rehash keep thinking this is ESB part 2.

I don't think this Trilogy is about 'The Chosen' in a literal sense that was clearly laid out and talked about in the PT. I think this Trilogy is about why this keeps happening and what is the fate of the Jedi, The force, The Darkside?

Luke is a step ahead of everyone and that's why I feel he flees and why he seems so 'Get off my Lawnish' in the Trailers. He doesn't see Rey as the Chosen, he sees her as another possible threat that will duplicate what Vader did, then Kylo Ren did, and possibly her now.

Remember it's called The Last Jedi so that is a powerful statement meaning this is it in one form or another.

I'm nervous tbh. No Larry Kasden, I hope it's not going to far out there, which looks likely. SW I love is a simple story, of good vs evil. I hope the font stray to far. I loved, loved, TFA. I'm glad JJ is back for 9. I hope he gets Kasden back.

Excited but I borderline LOATHE the power crap about Rey and Ben. It's been done. With Anakin..and that established the Star Wars canon and story we know. When it comes to raw power, and connection to the force, Anakin is the standard. Period.

Only way I find this power stuff acceptable is if Rey is too a Skywalker, or if Snoke is trying to bring back the power of Anakin through Ben's and Rey's bond for himself since Anakin never lived it.

Yes. Anakin was the chosen one because he was born from the force and his destiny was to become to most powerful force user ever. He was a human incarnation OF the force, which is why the galaxy went the way it did when he was alive. His will was the will of the force. It established what we have now.

You don't get a stronger connection or more natural connection to the force than Anakin. You just dont. That's established. But now you do, with Rey and Ben? For the sake of 2017 story telling? 100% with you on that.

Still excited but yeah..dont like it. It's takes away from the magic of what it means to be THAT special. ESPECIALLY if someone who isn't related is doing that. I get the point you are making. We don't NEED another story of OP powerful force users. We did it. It was a single boy in the culmination of a long line of force users. It is what made his story special, and 1-6 special. The tragedy of the most powerful force user to ever exist. Having two new force users upsurp that for the sake of story telling is incredibly lame.

Regardless of what Luke and Snoke say about Ben's and Rey's connection to the force and their raw power, Anakin's was still greater by default. And Luke knew him. That was his story. And the anthology films continue that story.

Regardless of what the writers do, George Lucus is still the god of that universe, he created it and it is his story. So as long as he isn't involved, something will always be missing. It's too bad

Anakin is still the chosen one. The balance was restored by Anakin. The balance can be lost if the Dark Side returns to great power. Kylo and Rey are the dual sides of Anakin's nature. Will the light or dark win out? The ST is still focused on Anakin but its his legacy that is in question. Can the Jedi return thus keep the balance.

Kasden won't be back. J.J. is co-writing with Chris Terrio.

What projects has Chris Terrio been attached to as I don't know much about him?

Argo being one of them, he won an Oscar for it.

To be fair, he joined BvsS late in the project, the stuff he DID write was actually good. The director did a horrible job bringing it on screen.

The trailer was fine, although some of the lines felt very cliché. It gave off the vibe "generic young adult action superhero blockbuster material".

It made a little bit more excited about the movie though, and that's always a good thing.

    Kylo, mumbles, "Leia."

Rey, looks startled, "Why did you say that name."

I'm more excited! I'm really intrigued by the notion of both Kylo and Rey epitomizing more of the loneliness and isolation we witnessed in TFA. Snoke seems to be exploiting Kylo for ulterior motives and Luke is fearful of Rey, probably enough to refuse the continuation of her training.

I'm fascinated by the idea of two powerful force users unaware of their respective importance in a conflict engulfed in outdated, dogmatic ways, finding solace in each other's perspectives to finally bring some semblance of balance to the force. That idea fascinates me and it's how I interpreted the trailer and everything leading up to this point. For now I'm extremely excited about the prospects of TLJ!

I think I am more excited by the trailer. Rogue 1 kind of gave TLJ some 'cover' while it was in production which is one of the reasons I like a new film every year. While R1 was out and being hyped, I kind of forgot about TLJ so I'm probably more spoiler free on this one than any of the previous entries.

I’m always excited when a new chapter is coming out. I’ve already started counting down the weeks on my calendar since the new trailer; 9 weeks to go, 8 weeks to go etc.
