    For this purpose, I will include Han and Padme since they married into the Skywalker family.
    Shmi -
    Pro: formed the Skywalker clan, mother of Anakin, grandmother of Luke/Leia, great-grandmother of Kylo/Ben

    Con: didn't really do much in the saga, dies in captivity in second movie.

    Anakin -
    Pro: was the chosen one, who's turn to the dark side led to the rise of the Empire and destruction of the Jedi Order, but also redeemed himself and destroyed the Sith. Fathered Luke and Leia

    Con: it took his son Luke to save him and the Rebellion was going to destroy the Death Star anyway.

    Luke -
    Pro: helped the Rebel Alliance destroy the First Death Star, forever altering the course of the GCW; saved his father from the Dark Side and in return he destroyed the Emperor. Brought back the Jedi Order (fan theory - possibly fathered Rey)

    Con: Luke's Jedi Order was decimated, leaving Luke as the Last Jedi once again, essentially leaving us where we started in ROTJ.

    Leia -
    Pro: Helped lead the Rebellion against Palpatine and her (then unknown) father. Without her, the Rebellion and later New Republic might never have made it as far as they did.

    Con: Was mother to Ben Solo, who helped Snoke destroy the Jedi Order her brother recreated. Never became a Jedi herself.

    Ben -
    Pro: Turned to the dark side under his uncles tutelage and destroyed the new generation of Jedi. Killed his father Han Solo.

    Con: Other than that, didn't have THAT prominent of a role that we know of.

    Pro: The guy was extremly loyal to his loved ones and no matter how nasty things got as he was tempted by the Dark Side, the guy always let the Light win at the end.

    Con: The dude was crazy and he even used deathsticks to keep him in a buzz so that he wouldn't see Luke's Force Ghost!

    my first impulse was to say Luke, but i've decided to go with Leia.
    • were it not for Leia and her quest to find Obi-Wan, Luke might have not gotten caught up in this adventure in the manner that it happened.
    • she may not have become a jedi, but she served as ambassador, senator for both old and New Republic, and general for the Resistance.
    • she has carried the line forward (so far the only one we know of), and though Ben isn't exactly something to brag about, he wouldn't exist and be in his current state without her influence. also, i'm still pretty sure he's going to matter to the peace and order of the galaxy before all is said and done in the ST--and that will rely in some fashion on Leia's influence as well.
    Luke impressively fought the Empire, destroyed a Death Star, brought Darth Vader back from the Dark, and quietly remains the final key to the fate of the jedi.
    while hugely significant, it just doesn't compare to Leia's lifelong dedication to fair and reasonable governance of the galaxy for regular sentient beings everywhere.
    the galaxy barely even believes Luke exists. so if the question is who is the most prominent Skywalker, it's definitely Leia.

    Luke, the Hero's Journey. A farm boy, introduced to the mystic of the force, overcomes the shocking revelation of his parentage, and doesn't succumb to the faults of his father. Anakin cannot be redeemed, and thus fulfill his role as the Chosen One, without Luke. Without Luke's compassion, and unwavering belief in the inherent good of people, of his father, the story could not function.

    I'm saying that in terms of the thematic devices and narrative structure of Star Wars, not who was more prominent or known in the SW universe.
