    Exactly. Exactly.

And I really do think it is hubris and ego on the part of Pablo/the story group (and directors?) that's lead to some of these confusing choices. Brand new aliens vs. a scant amount of legacy aliens. Brand new worlds with almost no legacy worlds. Porgs instead of the already-existing convorees. Snoke instead of Plagueis. As referenced in the post above, just look at Plagueis' Sun Guard. So similar to the Praetorian Guard.

New for the sake of new, or so Pablo & Co. can get their rocks off as the "creator" of these characters/worlds/stories, does not by itself make them good characters or good stories. If we wind up with stories that have little connection to the past, it will in fact be the opposite. It's troubling. It all stinks of a soft reboot.

And I failed to mention that members of the Sun Guard eventually became Palpatine's Red Guard/Royal Guard, which obviously have inspired Snoke's Praetorian Guard. So...weird choices to have Snoke be someone completely new. Again, I think it is Pablo/the story group being self-serving.

I guess if we find out the name of the head Praetorian Guard is named Thull Wulain or some derivation then we will know for sure.

This makes so much sense. Just imagine how bad ass we would feel if we had his job. Any one of us would be living a dream come true and it would be hard to keep that kind of knowledge/power (Because as we all know Knowledge IS Power) from exploding our own heads with ego and self serving platitudes. I totally get why he twit tweets.

I keep wondering if we will learn anything at all about Snoke in ST. I kind of think we might learn more about him through expanded material like books and comics than we do from the movies. It's pretty standard for Star Wars to allude to things we know nothing about and either not explain them (Yoda's species, how Maz got Lukes lightsaber, how long did Lukes Jedi training last?) explain them decades later (What is the Galactic Senate, how did The Emporer gain power, how did Vader turn to the dark side?) or they explain things through expanded material (How did 3PO get a red arm)

Or to go further thing of Emporer Palpatine, after 3 movies in the OT he has 7 minutes of screen time and by the end we know almost nothing about him!

    What we know:
    • We learned that The Emporer was bad
    • Ruled the Galaxy and disbanded the galactic senate
    • Was Vader's master
    • At first wanted Luke to die
    • Later wanted Luke to turn to the dark side
    What we don't know:
    • How he took power
    • His name (There is no mention of Palpatine in the movies)
    • That he is a Sith Master (The word Sith is not in the OT)
    • How he turned Vader to the dark side or if he was even the one who turned him
    • Can he use a lightsaber or does he even have one?
All this to say that I think it would make sense that Disney would be setting up a villain with some legs. I don't think the Episodic movies are going to be like Marvel and have a new villain every movie. I think we will learn more about Snoke through the years as Disney slowly teases out the full story and role Snoke has had over the years. So he could be Plageous, I like the theory a lot, but I don't expect to find out much about him in the new trilogy.

Not a twin in the traditional sense, not a biological brother but two beings cast from the same vergance in the force. It's not really my number one Snoke theory, but I think it makes a certain amount of sense.

Problem if Snoke will not be explained in the Films - bitter taste of leaving cinemas after ep IX and asking whatahel was that thing that was (expectedly) killed at the end?

Now this may have worked in original trilogy with mysterious emperor killed in ep VI, when everything was mystery and new in Star Wars universe anyway.

    This would not work now.

Afteral its just 30 years after a 25 000 years old history of Sith have abruptly ended in episode VI, and whooop here he cames ,mr Snoke , making mess in the galaxy out of nowhere.

If authors of New Trilogy think they can escape so easily by not elaborating Snoke in the Films (and Snoke is main reason why we have new trilogy), they are in even bigger trouble than they realize.

On Gungan, they ,and all of us togehter with them, are than in big dudu.

We have a novel about Phasma coming out, so I'm sure Snoke will get one too, but they are likely waiting until we either know more about him or if he's too big a spoiler, we'll learn more after IX.

Yep, We didnt get many Vader centered novels until the Character was fleshed out better on screen and through the available media of that time. I would imagine Snoke media will follow the same path but the wait wont be near as long since information is disseminated at the speed of light now-a-days. I expect his novel to drop within months as soon as we find out his basic back story.

Andy mentioned that even Snoke is considered gray, so it seems his agenda might not be about power and world domination, but something personal. I am really curious to see how he's developed, and if anything changed from when he was first created to what he's become now.

You pretty much hit every golden question we have about him :D

All thats left is can I call Snoke Him? Is that offensive? How should we genderize him (well crap) until his (damn, did it again) gender is confirmed? -I joke but I really did hear some people arguing about this at Fan Fest this weekend. I just shook my head and walked on by.

You just met a woman who spent most of her free time as a teen and up analyzing movies, games and animes lol

If the theory of him taking bodies to survive is true, I could see him being a woman, if that's the real Snoke who we've never seen, but I am doubtful Snoke's gender was anything but male lol

Well, it is said that the most powerful Sith Lords could live for perpetuity by absorbing the life force of other living beings. The writers could use this as a map to get them to body switching. One rumor Ive read is that Snoke wants Kylos body so there is that. I am of the group that thinks Snoke is a powerful force user. How else could he complete Kylos training? And with that, if the rumors of stealing life are true, that could be where Snoke is headed with Kylo.

Yeah I was thinking that too. I could see him planning to take over his body and then use it to take on Rey and Luke, so he can take Rey and kill Luke. I have no doubt he's a Force user, but we can scratch out him being a Sith though. His big blue eyes kind of end that theory. Watch VIII end with him attempting to take Kylo's body and he takes Luke's instead!

About those blue eyes...I wonder if a powerful Sith Lord could manipulate his own cells to camouflage his eye color?

Oooh that would be pretty awesome! Also he could be a Sith if that body isn't his actual one.

Or he could wear contacts :D

It just seems to me that with those massive head and throat wounds, there is some cellular manipulation going on to keep him alive. Those are not survivable wounds.

Haha now I need fanart of Snoke looking in a mirror, hiding his Sith eyes by applying contacts!

We know he's not human, but if those are actual wounds and not part of his alien look, then he's a walking corpse with those holes!
