There's a few articles on it, but the quote is ths one from 2015:

"Supreme Leader Snoke is quite an enigmatic character, and strangely vulnerable at the same time as being quite powerful,” Serkis says. “Obviously he has a huge agenda. He has suffered a lot of damage. As I said, there is a strange vulnerability to him, which belies his true agenda, I suppose.”

It sounds like this is personal for him and he's not a crazy SW villain consumed by darkness.

Okay, didn't miss anything, then. It just never occurred to me to read it that way. But I think you're onto something. :)

Yeah I never really paid it much attention, but now it seems they are going the gray route with less white and black, and that means even the villain has more to him than just power crazy urges. I think Snoke could be a really awesome addition to SW if his character is done right.

Right. And we still do have that curious line from the TFA novel where Snoke commends Kylo Ren for being formed by "the dark side...and the light."

So again - I think you're onto something.

Wow, a personal vendetta and a gray force user...Sounds a lot like Mace Windu. If Snoke pulls out a purple light saber I'll lose it lol!

He sounded completely brainwashed lol and he failed with that idea. Killing him made him less dark in his heart.

His father's heroism and unconditional love put a seed,a spark of Light in his heart ,yes. This however has nothing to do with the fact Snoke been Wise.

Lol we have a trilogy because Snoke is Wise, not because he is dumb.Ugly damged guy,who obviously cheated death, has made a mess in the galaxy and families that is jet unseen.
    Snoke the (evil) Wise.

That brainwashed appearance of Kylo is also jet unseen way of brainwashing,Snoke influenced Kylo from birth trough the Force.

Actually that just proved Snoke's an idiot lol he's so wise he just made Ren lighter lol though I will say he's wise if that was intentional so he could control Ren.

    100%.

What worked in 1977-1983 would not work now. What "worked" (heh heh) in 1999 would not work now. It was a far different time in cinema (and the world) then. It was certainly a far different time in the GFFA. There were far less expectations out of fantasy films. There was certainly zero expectations for Star Wars. Hell, I'd argue there were radically different expectations out of cinema alone in '77-'83. That's evidenced alone in this film's instant popularity and how it changed cinema forever from that moment forward. We were just learning these characters. The galaxy, as it were, was in its infancy. All we NEEDED to know was that there WAS a bad guy and a good guy, and know only the scantest amount of their motivations and backstories. We knew Luke was good. We knew he lived with his Aunt and Uncle (1977 cinema-goer: "Hmm, why? Where are his parents? (shrug) Bummer. That's sad. Oh well! I wonder what will happen with Luke!? When is he going to space?!"). We knew there were strange creatures and a cool old hermit wizard named Ben...and Ben Kenobi is the same as Obi Wan, who Leia talked about in the beginning. ("Hm, I wonder what HIS deal is? He seems to have known Luke's father. Sad. Oh! His father was a great man! And that evil monster Vader killed him! I bet Vader is that dude with the shiny black armor! Cool. I wonder what will happen with Luke!? When is he going to space?!") We knew there was a "cool guy" that helps Luke get to space. ("Yes! Finally!") We know that the cool old wizard has special powers called the Force, and Luke might have them too. We know that Vader DEFINITELY has them. ("Wow! He can kill people with his MIND!"). Then we find out Vader works for an emperor. ("Woah, hold the phone! Vader isn't even the biggest baddest! He works for an emperor! Wonder what HE looks like!? Cool.") Then that b-tard Vader kills cool old Ben, and Ben disappears. But wait! Luke then saves the day using HIS special powers and with the help of Obi Wan, who talks to him from the beyond! ("WOAHHH....duuuuude.") The end. And then in ESB, we see the Emperor, and see he's running the show. ("Yikes, he's creepy.....wait, was than an old woman??") Then bam, Vader is Luke's father ("Mind...blown.") And then in ROTJ, bam, Leia is Luke's SISTER. ("Woah!!!....wait...WTF?! YUCK!"). And then BAM, Vader helps Luke kill that nasty old man Emperor Palpatine and is redeemed. ("Mind BLOWNNN.")

Reductive, I know. However, when I was young, I know that's how I personally processed these films as they came out. I feel that's how A LOT of people processed them. When it was revealed there was an even BIGGER bad than Vader, THAT alone was a twist and blew our minds. We didn't NEED to know the Emperor's backstory. That there WAS an Emperor ruling the galaxy was sufficient. Many of us wondered who he was, but it wasn't necessary for the story. Things are totally different now. The galaxy isn't as fresh and young and new as it once was. We've been through secret reveals of lineage, reveals of devious political machinations, backstories of every conceivable kind, and more twists and turns than you could shake a stick at (or that anyone could have guessed.) Thus, we have been carefully taught to not only DESIRE to know the backstory of Snoke, but to EXPECT it. The GFFA as a whole, and all of the storytelling comprising it since, has ingrained in us the need to know everything. If it isn't even hinted at in this trilogy, it WILL leave a sour taste in everyone's mouths. It will feel like an unfinished story, and 90% of the audience is NOT going to seek out the backstory in additional materials and ephemera. Nor will the reviewers. It won't go down well. If this trilogy came out in 1977 and it was brand spanking new phenomenon it would be a different matter. Hell, if this was 1999 and prior to all of the twists that the PT revealed, it would even be a different matter. But it's 2017, and in 2017, we've been purposefully taught to expect more.

I agree it would not work to leave so much a mystery. However I do hope the find a good balance. Give enough information to satiate the lifelong fans but not so much that new fans are overwhelmed or dont understand whats going on. Then they could fill in the nitty gritty information with books and other material

Count Dooku had regular eyes and he was a Sith and Anikan only had red eyes when he was deep in a Sith rage and Palpatine had regular eyes when he was in Senator mode.

I don't put too much stock in that photo. I think RJ would have more class than to post a picture like this. With the recent elections and the numerous celebrity photos online with obvious photoshopped shirts representing candidates, I would say this is also photoshopped with the words coming from "Steele Wars" website. Think Rian would be better than that. Sorry if this has already been stated but I'm just recently seeing this picture of RJ.

The only way to wrap up the Skywalker saga is by having me, the father of Anakin, as the big baddie. Remember, I created that little emo stump and just when Palpy thought he got me, I went into hiding and watched from above until ’twas time to strike. That is when I found emo Ben Solo and turned him into my b*tch.

I decided that the Sith aren’t that great and the rule of two is rather silly, how can one really have two dudes take on an army of Jedi and what not. But whatever I thought it was stupid so I abandoned the notion of Sith and Jedi, and I want to merge them both and use it for my own will. For that is the TRUE way of the dark side.

Snoke is not my real name. That was a silly name that my manicurist misinterpreted “Sith” with Snoke. Ugh but whatever, she does a good job.

Anywho, yea I have returned and I’m sure am gonna tear this house down! You best be ready b*tches because this sh*t is about to get real. Dark side all day mother bleep. MUAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

For real, I am Plagueis, and I’m coming for Luke and Rey.

You're right. He does have more class than to post a pic like this. The Hidalgo family, however, has exactly that much class (or lack thereof), as Kristen Hidalgo is the one that handed him that sticker and took the photo and posted it. Because the Hidalgos love nothing more than to take a crap on fans, and theorizing in general.

So...if Snoke is NOT DP then in ep 9 they should lay some ground work for DP to be bad guy in next trilogy. We want DP. It is obvious he can bring home the bacon $$$.
