I'm saying that the person Plagueis could've been dead like the person Anakin was once dead - or was seen by himself and others, to be dead. But he existed in another form with a different name - Darth Vader.

[QUOTE="That's partly how they blinded the Jedi, yes. But the Force wasn't out of balance until the Sith emerged: [/QUOTE]

@master_shaitan Im not sure if this posted correctly so i am retyping it.

"The prophecy of the Chosen One was an ancient Jedi legend that foretold the coming of a powerfull Jedi who would restore balance to the force." Why would they have a prophecy of restoring balance if the force was already in balance.

Because it was a vision about a future where the Force goes out of balance. That was the greater prophecy - that there would be dark times and within this era a chosen one would be born who would bring balance.

Again, those Lucas quotes I provided above explain his point of view. I think the films demonstrate that as well - as the Sith took over they pushed the Force out of balance. They spread EVIL EVERYWHERE. When the Jedi destroyed the Sith, good and evil were equal again. Balance.

The level of which things were out of balance began to increase as they gained power but it had been slipping and our of balance to an extent for a while, it wasn't just like it was suddenly just out of balance like a light switch turned on. I still think that balance had to start slipping when the prophecy was made or the prophecy does not make sense because there is no mention of things becoming unbalanced just that balance would be restored. Also, I don't think the stories surrounding who made the prophecy and when they made it are still canon.

Alas, this has gotten off topic haha but i like talking about this kind if stuff!

If Snoke turns out to be some decrepit tool from another Galaxy with no connection to the previous 6 films, I'm walking.

Plagueis is the answer. I couldn't give a rip what Pablo says, he's a nob. Anyone other than Plagueis is tacked on nonsense.

    ITG out.

Even if that is the case (which is probably was to a point - just the balance slightly out of sync is negligible) it still stands that it was the dark forces spreading evil that causes imbalance. The point is that when the Sith emerged they spread evil everywhere and it dominated the good in the galaxy. That is what destroyed the balance. And so when the Sith were destroyed the balance was restored as the empire fell, the war ended and the Sith could no longer oppress the galaxy. This isn't an end to evil of course, just a return to the parity between good and evil or light and dark or however you want to look at it.

My view is that Snoke fed off the dark side of the Force and that the Sith empowered him. When balance was retored Snoke was seriously weakened and had to create imbalance again himself to restore his strength.

I think you're probably right. But I'm not the biggest fan of this whole "he came from unknown space/from another galaxy, but OH BABY, he's been watching the WHOLE TIME" business. It doesn't feel like Star Wars. "Star Wars evil" is about the evil within. That's where it comes from. Everyone is capable of it. Everyone has it. But will you resist it and choose the light instead? Every Star Wars big bad intra-galaxy being thus far has been some version of this: someone that has "fallen" and succumbed to the dark side. To have some sort of "super alien" big bad come from outside the galaxy, we will wind up having no ties to him. We won't care about him. When he dies, there won't be that twinge of sadness of a failed life and possible redemption lost. He is alien. He is other. And that feels very Star Trek rather than Star Wars. It feels very Yuuzhon Vongy to me, and I never liked them for this same reason. Or worse yet, it feels like Thanos. Some super alien that's watching everything. That was lazy writing when Marvel Comics did it, and it will be lazy when Marvel Studios finally unveils it. Yeeesh. No thanks.

George Lucas, at his peak, had that special power and talent to make you believe in his aliens and his galaxy. To make you believe that things, these creatures, these people, were all organic and truly came from this galaxy and were totally genuine. It never felt like it was cooked up by writers in a room somewhere. If Snoke is truly alien, from outside the galaxy, has no *interesting* (AKA not shoehorned in) backstory of how he came to be, how he managed to "watch" the Galactic Civil War and how and why he came to know of one singular being named Ben Solo, and how and why he came so interested in him, and possesses no motivations (that are *very* fleshed-out) for wanting to leave his galaxy and take over this new galaxy, then that's a complete story failure. It will be extraneous to the threads running through the other 6 films. It will be removed from the story of the rise and fall of the empire. It will be separate from the Skywalker saga as we know, and rather be a new tale that *happens to* involve Skywalkers also. It will be removed from what Star Wars is supposed to be, and will feel forced and as if Snoke was concocted by writers, or worse, a sales a marketing team. I don't know if there's enough screen time in the trilogy for the exposition needed to cover all of the story needed to redeem this character if he's "just some new evil alien." And as of right now, that's what Snoke seems to be.

ADDENDUM: Believe me, I'm no Plagueis apologist. I'm not dying to see him on screen at all. But at the very least, his inclusion as the big bad would be tidy. It would make sense. It would tie the worlds of the ST, OT, and PT together. Not using him, or *any* other "ancient sith that happened to find a way to artificially/unnaturaly extend life" (whatever name you want to give him), or hell, even *mention* the word sith at all in these new films, seems to be total hubris by Pablo and the story guardians, the filmmakers, and Disney to "make their own mark" on Star Wars, and an intentional attempt to whitewash the prequels, bad as they may have been.

Im simply coming at it from what information we have this is where it looks like its going. However, if we are talking about what I would want from the story instead of what it seems like I am more inclined to agree with what you wrote.
Although in general we are still trying to find out where this new trilogy fits in within the theme of the sage so far.

    My Guess:
    • 1-3 - FALL - The fall of Anakin Skywalker.
    • 3-6 - REDEMPTION & DEATH - The redemption of Anakin, prophecy fulfilled and balance being restored to the galaxy.
    • 7-9 - REBIRTH - It seems the basis of the new trilogy is a rebirth of the Jedi.

If Snoke is from another Galaxy, then I'm pretty much already doing that.

I don't think the extragalactic origin is required to make Snoke... alien. He just needs to come from Unknown Regions. They are a space that has been barely explored by anyone and exotic enough for a new, immensely powerful being to emege from.

    • Why did Snoke, a non-Sith, have apprentices before Kylo? For what purpose was he training them? Why was Kylo the first apprentice he uses to attack the Jedi? Why now? Why not earlier?
    • How come Snoke and his multiple apprentices went undetected by the Jedi and the Sith for so long? Did literally no one know of their existence?
    • How did Snoke's apprentices manage to fail? Why are they not still around? Was Snoke's training not good enough? Even against non-Sith and non-Jedi?
    • How did Snoke sustain his injuries? A previous apprentice? A lesser force-user outside of the Jedi and Sith?
So let me get this straight, he's non-Sith teaching possibly many apprentices (god knows for how long and for what reason), yet Snoke manages to not make a single meaningful mark in the galaxy in all the time he has been hidden. Even worse, Snoke and his apprentices contributed nothing of significance for at least a century, yet Snoke somehow manages to fail miserably at protecting himself and his other apprentices, and instead he becomes almost crippled!?

Why should we fear this guy? Where's the evidence that Snoke's teachings will make Kylo strong? Why does Kylo have so much faith in him? Snoke's past seems to have been an abject failure. He seems pathetic in all honesty. He failed to protect himself judging by his injuries (he's the oldest and most decrepit dark-sider yet) and he has failed to deliver on any other promising apprentices. He basically admits so himself when he sucks up to Kylo.

Snoke's powerful position is built from the foundation and success of those that came before him - he has leeched from the plans and might of the Emperor and he has leeched from the legacy of Vader and the power of the Skywalkers. Hopefully I'm just being way too negative here and Snoke will offer more to the story other than being a failed, decrepit cabbage.

      • There are no mentions of apprentices before Kylo, we dont know if Kylo is the only Knight of Ren with force abilities or if any other Knights of Ren have force abilities. However there is a group called the Acolytes of Beyond that many believe Snoke is reaching out to through their dreams and that this group becomes the Knights of Ren but again we don't know of any of these Acolytes who are force sensitive.
    • How come Snoke and his multiple apprentices went undetected by the Jedi and the Sith for so long? Did literally no one know of their existence?
      • Again we don't know if Snoke has any other apprentices besides Kylo.
      • We know that Palpatine has been sensing a dark force in the unknown reaches of space, he is the only Sith powerful enough to feel that dark force.
    • How did Snoke's apprentices manage to fail? Why are they not still around? Was Snoke's training not good enough? Even against non-Sith and non-Jedi?
      • Again we don't know if Snoke has any other apprentices besides Kylo.
      • We don't know if any other knights of ren besides Kylo are being trained in the ways of the force.
      • We assume the knights of ren and snoke killed all of Lukes students at his Jedi academy but Han made it sound like it was just Kylo/Ben
    • How did Snoke sustain his injuries? A previous apprentice? A lesser force-user outside of the Jedi and Sith?
      • We don't know how Snoke received his injuries but many think it was Luke who injured him
      • We know he is super old so we some of his disfigurement could be from age as well
    • Snoke somehow manages to fail miserably at protecting himself and his other apprentices, and instead he becomes almost crippled!?
      • We don't know of any apprentices besides Kylo in his fight with Rey who were injured
      • We don't know if he is crippled at all, he just looks old and beat up
      • We don't know how Snoke received his injuries but many think it was Luke who injured him
    • Why should we fear this guy?
      • Besides the military power of the First Order we dont really know yet
    • Where's the evidence that Snoke's teachings will make Kylo strong?
      • He is still being taught, thats why snoke says, it's time to finish his training in TFA
    • Why does Kylo have so much faith in him?
      • We don't know the details of Kylo/Ben turning to the dark side
    • Snoke's powerful position is built from the foundation and success of those that came before him - he has leeched from the plans and might of the Emperor and he has leeched from the legacy of Vader
      • The people before him did not have success, The Emperor failed and died and so did Vader
      • Kylo/Ben is the one leaching off Vader but it is because he is Vader's grandson
    • Hopefully I'm just being way too negative here and Snoke will offer more to the story other than being a failed, decrepit cabbage.
      • Making that statement is like watching A New Hope and saying the Emperor is a pussy, we just dont know much about Snoke yet so we cant say one way or the other

“I have never had a student with such promise–before you.”

Ren straightened. “It is your teachings that make me strong, Supreme Leader.”

Quote from the book. So switch out, "We don't know if Snoke has any other apprentices besides Kylo." with "We dont know anything about any of the apprentices he had before Kylo" We dont know if they are alive or dead, strong or weak or have no force abilites and all the other points still stand. We don't know enough about Snoke.

Your right, we don't know enough about Snoke or his apprentices, but from that quote, Snoke doesn't exactly think that highly of them. Hence all the questions.

He says he has never had a student with such "promise" It doesn't mean he is currently his best student or most powerful, just that he has the potential to be.

If he is from another galaxy, how would he know the events that took place on the second death star? just seems like a lot to explain in a trilogy. I'm obviously not the writer and don't know how it could be done but seems like it'd have to be someone close to either Luke, Vader, or the emperor. I'm not reading any of the books so I could be way off. Just my opinion lol

Finished the Empires End novel finally.

    Spoiler:

It's an interesting phrase that Nora uses when she says "mothering is an OMNIVERSAL thing" (paraphrased). Shouldn't that have been a universal thing? This would indicate there are other universes outside of our known Star Wars universe.

    Could we find Earth? Hahaha...ummmm

    Snoke is Darth Trump!
