    Force is energy field.

    One can influence by Force only lower(animalistic)part of psyche generated by lower brain functions which are more deterministic (matter-originating).
    Jedi Force mind trick works only on weak minded,in whoom lower brain functions dominate.Force can't influence higher levels of psyche, the intellect.
    Words can do this.
    Jedi mind trick works as double-barelled gun, Force influences dominating lower animalistic brain functions of the victim, symultaneously with words which hit its weak intellect,resulting in desired resulting thoughts of weakminded victim.

    What Snoke did to Kylo is influencing balance of the Dark and Light, not his soul,
    Though Snoke's time of influence on Ben,baby age,is no coincidence, since its time when intellect is not developed at all.

    This is not mind trick but confirmation of logical string of everything I said .

    Btw I would gladly made some much needed Canon suplements and logical stratifications about Force abilities if I would be allowed, because it is possible to be done.

    I think the most obvious clue that Snoke is a powerful force user is he trains Kylo in the ways of the force and when we last saw Snoke, he told Hux to bring Kylo to him so he could finish his training. Only a Force user could train a strong force adept in the ways of the force.

    Damn, i cant wait to see TLJ. Palpatine was cool, he was like this old evil spider, who spun his little web throughout the saga. But he wasn't all that fearful, unless you're afraid of spiders. Snoke from what I can gather is the analogy of a snake. So he'll be stealthily and cunning.

    Well, THAT is an interesting discussion, worthy a thread on its own. There are so many great threads touching the topics of the force, but none so far compiling all the single discussions.

    As per my Understanding, the force is much, much more than just plain energy. Or to cite an expert on this, Yoda says “Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter…”, and there are at least two aspects, the living one and the cosmic one.

    The force contains of energy but not solely, as it is more than crude matter. So to stress your hint that at the sub-atomic level both matter and energy are based on the same principles, the force is above this.

    I really wanted to such a discussion thread touching all different aspects of the force and the sects/orders using and/or believing it, for a long time to incorporate the discussions from these and then go beyond. But the sheer number of threats already started in that direction and then came to an halt shows me that just one big force discussion would most probably be doomed.

    The Last Jedi is most significant Star Wars Film after the Empire Strikes Back, it will define what we are about with Disney Star Wars. TFA was nice homage to Lucas acheivement ,but now we need to see true nature of Disney Star Wars.And Snoke is the Key. He must be strong, plausible,this is the only way.

    Or Kylo kills him in a sabre temper tantrum trying to prove how evil he is like Emperor Comodus in Gladiator yelling "Am I not merciful." Once Snoke is dead he looks up with yellow-red eyes and kills any dissenters and rules the 1st order.

    If we take a look at Snoke what can he be, is he more fearful than Palpatine?

    My guess is that Snoke is a master dark force user and Kylo Ren is his apprentice. When we think about where did Snoke come from, if Palpatine is not his master? My conclusion are, Dark Force users have masters like Jedi Masters, and just like the Jedi masters take on one Padawan at a time. So Dark Force users are like the Jedi Order there and many Dark Force Users who are masters and we see them take on students. So when we see Darth Sidious and his student Darth Vader, Darth is the name of us Dark Force Order he comes from. So Snoke can be another dark force users who as master but from a different school of thought. But they all have the same fundamentals principles and beliefs in the Dark side of the Force.

    So this means there are also other fearful Dark Side Force users who are Masters of the Darkside of the Force. This is where Snoke comes from in the new trilogy.

    If you pay attention to what Pablo Hidalgo says, you can easily figure out who Snoke is. He is Kadaan, the Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side. Think I'm lying? Wait until Episode 9, in which his backstory is explained.

    Exactly, and unfortunately, that is what I suspect for a long time based on my extensive inquiry.

    In fact root for Snoke is Pablo Hidalgo's own creation, an obscure character named Cronal which Pablo created almost 2 decades ago-- Cronal. Later, a character Kadann probabaly evolved from this general approach of "Dark Side prophetic movement" within the LSL story department, in this case just as general template that has been suplemented with notion that Kadann supposed to be trained by the Jedi ( and even could be "the last Jedi" that survived order 66 as well) but was converted to the Dark side to became Dark Side Prophet.Original Kadan was a dwarf, but I believe that all those existing ideas from those decanonised characters (Cronal, Kadann) were merged and likely were used as a template for Snoke we have now.

    This is important find, which came gradualy , in which I involved significant effort for one sole reason-to expose , and prove this character as a Snoke (however "workable" ) is no near in quality as Darth Plagueis the Wise.

    In other words, Pablo Hidalgo or/and group behind him, who is regarded by J.J. Abrams as "great man with great ideas" pushed trough his own interest.

    The Dark Side prophet instead mythical all connecting Darth Plagueis the Wise.

    This general idea ( a line of thinking) I think dictated even the "new" approach to the Force itself in the entire New Trilogy.

    Also, a source on 4chan has leaked the fact that Snoke has switched bodies multiple times, and that no one alive has seen his original body. Maybe this ties in with the Eremite.

    I fear 99% chance is Snoke is former Palpatine's Dark Side prophet in the tradition of Pablo Hidalgo. J.J..Abrams thinks Pablo is genius,and Pablo thinks his Dark Side Prophet is genial idea... Inevitable.

    I'm late to this discussion.

    Certainly, Snoke appears to have some fear of Luke. "If Skyyyyyywalker returnnnnnnns....the new Jedi...will rise..." and "...then we can reach them before they get to Skywalker!" come to mind. That being said, Palpatine wasn't exactly fearless. The look on his face when he got Force pushed by Yoda comes to mind, as well as his mad CGI leap to the door. He also looks surprised before the "lightning ball explosion" that knocks the two of them apart. I imagine it comes down to what he told Anakin: "All who gain power are afraid to lose it."

    If anything, I get the feeling that Snoke is simply more cautious. The Empire fell and it would be a shame for the First Order to repeat its mistakes.
