While I think Snoke could possibly turn out to be Rax, I don't feel there is anything that definitely ties the two together yet. Certainly, the description of the eyes don't match up.

 

I feel Rax is a red herring. Also, I feel he's too young to be Snoke - Snoke was old enough to see the rise and fall of the empire. Rax was not.

 

Yeah Snoke has been around for AT LEAST a good few decades since he's also seen the fall of the republic .

So, I re-did my math to calculate Gallis Rax's age, I think he would've been born around 40 BBY. I, for some reason, thought he was much younger.

Life Debt takes place ~5 ABY. It starts out 3 decades ago, so ~26 BBY. The book doesn't state Gallius' age, but if he's 5-8, he would've been born around 31 BBY-34 BBY. In my theory (Brendol Hux is Snoke), I estimate that Brendol was born in 40 BBY, and his would give him a bit of a headway to see more of the rise and fall of the empire.

Also, I'm under the impression that Gallius was mostly on Jakku - protecting the secret imperial research base. That really wouldn't be the best situation for him to learn leadership or force-wielding skills.

 

That is a really interesting theory! I'm not completely on board with the idea that Snoke is Gallius Rax, but it is plausible. Personally, I think he's Darth Plagueis. It fits in so well with the storyline, and I think the scene in Revenge of the Sith when Palpatine is telling the story to Anakin has set it up really well. We never really know for sure, but it is heavily hinted that Plagueis created Anakin using the Force. But why would he do this? Perhaps with his great knowledge of the Force, he knew that Anakin would be the key to the return of the Sith. However in the legend, Palpatine says that his apprentice killed him. (cough, Palpatine, cough) But maybe Snoke is simply a manifestation of Darth Plagueis. We never see him as anything more than a hologram. What if that is all he can be? Perhaps he is a kind of Force ghost, and he has survived from the power of the Dark Side. Palpatine states that Snoke was able to save people from death. Perhaps Palpatine was wrong and Plagueis did save himself. Maybe 'saving people from death' was only preserving their soul in the Force, not conjuring them a new body.

Anyway, it's a wild theory, so make of it what you will.

Plus, what you said about Rae Sloane? I reckon that's got something to do with Rey's helmet. I watched an Easter egg video on the Force Awakens a few months back and it talked about the old Rebellion pilot helmet she puts on whilst eating dinner outside her AT-AT. There's an inscription on the side. Apparently, the guy who made the video said that when translated, the inscription actually spells out RAE. She was a war hero in the Rebellion, I believe. I guess that doesn't make much sense, as Rae Sloane was working with Gallius Rax in Aftermath, but it's just something to think about. I don't even know if it's true or not, but there you go.

 

i'm having a hard time understanding how the barely tolerable Imperial "pig" Brendol Hux, whom Rax deigns to let live in Life Debt, could possibly be the "wise" Supreme Leader Snoke. for me it's a stretch to say Rax could be Snoke, but Brendol Hux?

and i'm not sure what that would add narratively to the story. so Armitty then becomes Snokie-Poke's son and therefore has daddy issues over the toilet monster's love for Kylo Ren? and why would the toilet monster keep this stunted illegitimate non-FS son around to begin with if he himself is powerful? or care at all?
even if he came to that power somehow after some kind of experiment turned him into an ancient 7 ft. tall FS humanoid?

Brendol Hux has been around longer than TFA and he's always been a low-level non-active military commandant and a sadistic pig. doesn't really fit Snoke's profile.
and don't even get me started in the idea of Snokie-poke getting it on with the kitchen wench ~ hahaha

 

I'd prefer he is new outside of the original trilogy or the prequels. I'd like for the new canon novels to give us clues to who he is now.

Supposedly everyone thinks he is Hux's dad .

 

I've seen that theory and posted a youtube video a couple days ago. You can make a case for it.

If Sith no longer matter, why have Kylo pray to a dead Sith Lord to ask for help, while Snoke lives?

i would guess Kylo Ren's principal relationship with Vader is as his grandfather, not especially as a Sith.

 

The new novel supposedly states that Rax, while trimming the herd of unfit Imperial leaders, needs Hux around. Has any reason been given? Is it just an assumption that Hux is needed to head up the new kinderacademy?
